Overall I rate this tax software as a ten out of ten (5 Stars).
What's great about it: Easy to follow and use the tax software. The guides are particularly useful.
What's not so great: Updating of software should be completed at the beginning of the software use not at the end.

Easy to follow

I"ve been using turbotax to do my family's taxes for years now and find it easy to follow. I love how relevant info is transferred year to year, especially the comparable numbers from the previous year in all categories. This makes it even easier to know what sections need review. It would be nice if State taxes had same capabilities as Federal.
What's great about it: imports info from previous years
What's not so great: State taxes don't have same level of navigation capabilities.

Once Turbo Tax is used once, gather all forms (W-2, 1099, etc, and almost any return can be completed in a few hours.
I always save a copy of the current Turbo Tax program and return. If a mistake is made or there is an audit, an amended return is easy to prepare.
What's great about it: Picks up all relevant information from prior years. Picks up TXF for invesrments...

I have investment income, 1099 MISC income, withdrawals from my 401K and W2 income. I find TurboTax to be very user friendly. It walks be through each stage of the process and it is very clear what I need to enter at each step. The easy guide makes sure I don't forget anything and even reminds me of what I entered last year. It also finds every deduction.
What's great about it: Easy to use. Walks you completely through every step and every form. Finds every deduction.
What's not so great: None
Pros: I moved, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Tax Returns Are The Coolest!

The wording for the American Opportunity Credit for college students was not worded the best. It says after 4 years you do not get it and that is not true. Once you read further it shows you 4 years is the same as graduate. If you go longer than 4 years then this does not work. I would like better wording on the original page and not really far in to the help toolbar.
What's great about it: I enjoyed the recommended settings
What's not so great: Wording for American Opportunity Credit. 4 years does not mean graduated for students

1) did not transfer info from my 2011 filing, did not even ask about transfering it
2) was not easy to see the "fill-in" boxes, need better definition, darker outline.
3) the program totally skipped over major deduction areas - like donaitons,
4) "help" feautres we not that great
5) "print" feature was confusing - I expecteed to see a "print" button in the pop-up box (not just the save and preview ones) - need to have instructions stating that after perview or save then how to print
What's great about it: seemed very through, good explanations
What's not so great: did not transfer 2011 info and totally skipped over a couple of major deduction areas
