EVERY YEAR IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT GETTING STARTED. I HAVE BEEN USING TURBO TAX FOR AT LEAST 13 YEARS. IT NEVER LETS ME DOWN. MY RETURNS ARE ALWAYS ACCURATE AND COMPLETE.
What's great about it: IT'S SO EASY
What's not so great: SMALL CHANGES EVERY YEAR

Making Drudgery Easier

Have been using Turbotax for about twenty years, having started with the Macintosh version and moving to the PC version. It includes a lot which does not apply to me but which helps insure that I've considered all the options. I can't see doing my taxes without it.
What's great about it: Great help and guidance, particularly ItsDeductible
What's not so great: Doesn't always return to last saved place when returning to Step-by-Step after going to Forms

Confusion simplified

Third time user. Very straight forward process for average tax prep, cook book approach. Tells you whats needed, walks you through every detail, tailored to most W2s and 1099s - no hunting for boxes, all info is saved and can be printed at any time, detailed almost to boredom, E filed, and leaves you with a secure feeling that it was all done correctly. Use it once and you'll be convinced.
What's great about it: Simple tax prep for simple returns
What's not so great: E file alone isn't enough, have to mail in the forms.

Love the Carry Over Information

Overall the process - using the step by step method - was simple and straight forward. State filing was so easy as well. We saved all the info as PDF so we could pick and choose what we wanted to print easily. Cudos to you all and see you next year!
What's great about it: Easy to update information from previous years
What's not so great: Confusion over the K-1 entries between rentals and Partnership reporting

I've been using TurboTax for several years and love it. It makes filing simple and the Deluxe version is comprehensive enough for my level of investing. Importing 1099s from participating institutions is easy. I wish more companies would participate by making their 1099 forms available online.
I particularly like the charitable contributions function for non-cash items, because I have no idea what some of these items are worth. I have consistently obtained a larger refund or smaller tax bill by using this feature.
One feature I dislike is the inability to go back and edit one item, such as interest income or dividends, without being able to quickly return to where I was. That would be a nice feature to have.
What's great about it: Easy to use, makes filing simple
What's not so great: Can be clunky if you need to go back
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
