I think its a good product, and that it does what it says. I think the e-file for the State should be free if you buy the State & Fed. software version. But all in all I would recommend it.
What's great about it: Very Detailed and Informative
What's not so great: It almost got to long!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Overall extremely pleased. Have used Turbo Tax for at least the last 4 years and will use it again for 2013. The constant upgrades make me feel safe and I like the overall rating of audit possibility.
What's great about it: I like the way the program allows me to stop and start at any time. I also like being able to fill in my figures
What's not so great: No real cons

Easy to use - asked all the right questions

Ordered a disk, then got a new computer without a disk drive, couldn't find a way to download so ended up having to resort to my old computer long enough to do my taxes - now I won't have the tax information on the computer when I do next year's taxes -otherwise the program worked well and was able to do taxes quickly.
What's great about it: liked list of papers to have ready for each section
What's not so great: could not find way to download after ordering a disk - and my new computer did not have a disk drive!

What's great about it: excellent with all new update
What's not so great: some time hard to down load data from site

I found this program very easy to use. It pretty much did all the work for me. All I had to do was answer the questions as I went along.
What's great about it: ease with which the forms were filled out. program chose which forms were relevant to my situation
What's not so great: none in my case

"improvements" weren't really for me

I have been an enthusiastic user of tax prep software for over ten years, and have been a cheerleader for others to join me in using a great tool to ease the tedium, and lessen errors, during tax return preparation time. This year, however, TurboTax has made changes to the software that caused me significant frustration, and puzzlement that such slick software would be taking steps backward.
Our taxes are complicated (we file in several states) and I consider myself a veteran user, but this year I could not easily use the forms section to enter data on my own- I would click on a line and a statement would pop up that this line was "calculated" - I would then look for the worksheet or other source of the calculation, but there was no obvious link to the source provided on the screen (previous versions of the software made this very easy).
I finished the first draft of the federal return, and moved to the first state return to be completed. After several frustrating hours because of the above issue, I decided to close the software and begin fresh with the state return the next day. Previous versions of the software auto-saved at set time intervals, this does not do that anymore. There is also no SAVE icon or drop down on the screen. The only way to save your work that is evident to this user, was to close the software and be presented with a screen that asks if you would like to save your work. I intended not to save the state return, but thought that since I had finished the federal return, it had saved the work. It had not. I had to start again with the federal return the next day, an entire days' work lost.
What's great about it: Respected, accurate software
What's not so great: Became less use-friendly and intuitive with recent changes

Indiana Refund

Turbo Tax is the simplest most cost effective tax software available on the market. I can follow the step by step instructions and when something doesn't make sense or I think I can find more money I can use the the highlighted tags to find out more detailed information that has always led me to larger refunds.
What's great about it: Step by step entry made using Turbo Tax a breeze. Even When we had a business it was simple to use.
What's not so great: I really have never found much not to like.
