At least I don't owe!

With a fairly normal American financial life, a person should not need to hire an expert for tax preparation. Unfortunately, that's not how the feds roll. Turbo Tax is the happy(?) medium. It costs less than a tax preparer and, assuming you've kept your tax forms/documents in order, you get the job done in a few hours. Also, you can do the whole thing - fed & state without - electronically at any time of the day or night.
What's great about it: I could get as much info as I needed - more for some entries than others.
What's not so great: I don't feel confident that I entered my capitol gain info correctly.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Solid Turbo

Have used Turbo Tax for many years. Do not have overly complicated returns but on years I've had something a little different like cashing some stock I was able to do it with just a bit more research and reading up on searched upon subjects using Turbo Tax search feature.
What's great about it: Easy to work through each section w/links for more explainations as needed.
What's not so great: Sometimes saving and coming back did not seem to be in the right spot but easy to review and get to right spot.

Overall i have been please with Turbo Tax and have used it for years despite my taxes getting more complicated.
What's great about it: ease of use
What's not so great: difficulty with my state return

Overall Turbo Tax was easy to use. If we are paying for the CD the state filing should be free to e-file.
Deductions were not working correctly and I had to find the form to enter all data.

What's great about it: Transfer of files from previous years
What's not so great: Did not offer the solar water heater deduction during normal guide options

Easy to use but!

Overall Turbo Tax gets the job done very efficiently. The Its Deductible tool is very helpful in estimating the value of non-cash items.
What's great about it: Once you have your information collected it is easy to fill in the blanks
What's not so great: Have difficulty deleting or editing imported informaion. Online help was not very helpful

Good product and easy to use. Need more AMT explanations and help through detailed calculations of that especially there is a change for 2012 filing.

A Piece of Cake

If you get all your paperwork together, doing taxes with TurboTax will be a piece of cake. Since I'm a repeat user (3rd time), it pulls up last year's info and saves me time entering the personal info. Its clear menus and directions are easy to follow. TurboTax figures out where the numbers go and does the calculations. You can double-check the forms once they're done. Doing my federal and state taxes took a few hours, because I had to hunt for some paperwork. Next tax season, I'll be prepared and using TurboTax will be much quicker. I highly recommend TurboTax.
