Vary hard to do anything after all the entries.

My wife wanted to save what she had already done on our sons return and wait for some answers that he had to get. We couldn't do that and she closed the system and had to reenter all of the information again.
There was also a problem with the mileage deduction section. The answers that we thought should have been correct were not. I came in to help get my wife through this and I spent about 2 1/2 hours and I think we sent it and I also think that I saved a copy. Here is a clue for you when you have someone checking to program, get some older people to try it out to see if they can get through it in a timely manor. Most of the young people may have more experience and get through it fine but that may not be good for most of the people. I hope that this may help.

Not so good with today's health plan options

I've used TT for years but this year had to prepare a return with a HSA attached to the insurance plan. The instructions weren't very helpful and I only hope I completed it correctly. Turbo Tax assumes a higher level of understanding of the differences in all the health care plan options than I actually have.
What's great about it: Easy for the traditional tax items
What's not so great: instructions aren't very clear on the health care section
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Taxes worse than last yr but TTx helped alot

THis is probably my 15th year using TTx... love it. Because of an HR work mistake, they took out too little and I have to pay at end of year. I feel that TTX did a great job looking for and explaining all alternatives, etc.
I spent some time analyzing this years return (sub categories) to last years (using TTax 2011) to determine were major differences were. TTx could do this. SOmething more indepth that than the side by side tax history form.
What's great about it: expained aternatives, definitions,
What's not so great: could use some analysis of previous yr's differences

I have used TT to complete my taxes and for my child for more years than I can count. It makes the process simple and fool proof.
What's great about it: simple cause and effect entry
