Years and Years of Turbo Tax...

I've been using Turbotax... it seems like forever... that's because it does a good job for me.
It does a good job of getting me through a fairly complicated return in a minimum amount of time. I have two side businesses with a home office together with my and wife's regular, salaried jobs
My only qualm occurs near the end of the process.
When mistakes happen, and it seems like there's "always something," the program forces you to correct those mistakes by going directly to the federal and/or state forms. I wonder what this is like for people who never have seen those forms back in the day when we used to fill them out by hand.
Would it not be easier to simply click in the box given to you during the review process and have that one-click bring you to the place in the form that you need to be to fix that mistake?
Other than that, and the little bit of awkwardness that occurs during the interview process, you often have to go back to "Go" without collecting $200, it's a fine program. I just wish that it felt a bit "smarter..." like my phone. It still has a bit of a 20th century feel to it.
What's great about it: Holds your hand through the forms
What's not so great: Does not take you automatically to places where mistakes are...

Finally Done

I loved putting in different deductions amounts and seeing how they influenced the amount of my return. This helped me to learn that I could have given more to charity and received a bigger refund. I'm going to do this next year.
I did have a little trouble with deducting my 19 yr old full-time student son. The "months at home, don't deduct for time away at college" question tripped me up, and several others also, by the # questions posted for the same question

I have used turbo-tax for several years and will continue to so. It is by far the best self help program for doing you taxes.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Some areas of deductions are not as easy to understand. Especially when you are careing for elderly

Taxes Wrapped Up

Turbo tax is a great tool to quickly and pretty painlessly get your annual taxes done. It guides you through basic input, and explains most income and deduction categories thoroughly. Some catagories and explanations are still a mystery to the average tax-payer...that is where I go on faith and hope they don't steer me wrong.
What's great about it: easy menu, double checks, and includes e-file
What's not so great: some definitions of items still confusing

Error check had some items appear that had already been documentedb but failed to register and needed to be filled in again.
What's great about it: covered everything
