Have been using TurboTax for 4-5 years and have never had any issues with federal or state tax agencies. System addresses common issues but also asks questions that normally would not be considered for both income and deductions. Creates a feeling of accuracy and security.
What's great about it: retains last years info, asks pertinent questions, questions and comments create a comfort level of professionalism
What's not so great: needs to be more clear that updates need to be received when working off harddrive instead of disc.

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and my filing of taxes just keeps getting easier and easier. The step by step guidance makes filing my taxes stress free and once I start and can't stop the ennoyment and relief of getting to the finish line to submit the returns. I can also enjoy doing my tax return in my home when I want to complete Turbo Tax (like at midnight). Tax filing doesn't get easier than this!
What's great about it: Step by Step easy-to-follow guide
What's not so great: None

I have used Turbo Tax for many years. This is the first year that it did not automatically transfer all of the personal information from the past return to the new return. Maybe it was the way I had the other return saved, however, it was saved in the same location and in the same manner as in the past.
Form 8938: (Other foreign assets) On the error check, it required that I fill out Part IV, but I don't think I needed those boxes checked because I did not need to file those forms. However, without checking those boxes, I could not get past the error check.
Form 8938: Also during the error check, it required Part II, Item 8 to be filled out, even though I indicated that the asset was a stock. I filled out item 8, then went back and deleted the entries. On the next error check, it went through without errors.
Form 8938: On two additional foreign assets, I could not fill out Part III. it could be because the accounts were a low value, however, it would be good to have a prompter from Turbo Tax that said it was not required.
What's not so great: Form 8938 and transfer from past return

I have used TurboTax for years and this year's version was again a winner.
After finishing my Federal return, I had to spend little time on my Virginia state return - a real time saver.
What's great about it: I liked the way it showed my 2011 numbers against my 2012 numbers. Made it very simple to catch everything.
What's not so great: Virginia state efile should be free. Why is Virginia charging???

Have used Turbo Tax for years, but when I get hung up I get sent to internet for answers that never exactly answer my question.
What's great about it: Love the step by step process
What's not so great: Can't get easy answers to some questions

Three mistakes noted:
1. once I did my sons taxes it I efile the feds but needed to mail state virginia would not go to print copy auto had to go to forms it kept asking if i wanted to file efile or exit
2. once i finished with 1099 misc income it never went back for the deductions on the 1099 again had to go to forms.
3. State of NM taxes it took the amont of income and taxes paid to the state but did not show that until the end but during the guide me it asked me for the taxes paid for income on 1099mics so I put the amount in the box it doubled my amount had i not already figured that out manually I would have sent in a double amount and had an audit with taking twice what I was actually due.
What's great about it: good review
What's not so great: 1099misc

Turbo Tax is a heck of a lot easier than doing it the old fashioned way. If you use it for more than one year, the comparison with the prior year info is also great.
What's great about it: You can skip the federal and state form instructions
