So easy

Worth the money! Easy, step-by-step instructions and Turbo Tax did all the work. The only way I do my taxes!

The state return did not give enough information when making decisions very few help menus. Other wise the process was easy to go through on the Fed side.

Once the data is entered, one cannot go back and change it.
I needed to file a 1040 for Fed purposes as"single" and a joint fed in order to file a Ca return as I am a domestic ptr. When the program stopped me from doing that, I could not even get it to let me file an extension!
Also as I sold property in Ca. it should be taxed there. Your program would not let me do that as I am a Co resident. If you know nothing about taxes, your program will muddle through, but it will not let someone who knows what they are doing, do it! I am a retired IRS auditor. I will not use this program in the future. A total waste of money.

When checking for errors on my Utah State return, it complained because I had paid property tax to another state and entered this. It claimed I needed to have the line blank.
What's great about it: Federal was great. Easy to use and helped with a rather complex return.
What's not so great: State was a bit clumsy. I paid property taxes to 2 states, and the program asked about this, but then complained because

Still has glitches!

Used TurboTax for years--but still find it frustrating. Easy steps are REALLY easy with TurboTax, but if you have anything the least bit different--even if it is a common problem--TurboTax cannot solve it. Married couples living in two states will encounter issues that require workarounds. There are errors, e.g. the medical mileage rate was lower than the federal, but if you override the form, you cannot e-file. At times TurboTax made egregious errors that I was reluctant to save because I feared it might overwrite my correct entries. After an exceedingly long time waiting for help--the specialist told me that TurboTax does this--to save and close, and it would fix the errors (it did!). (Couldn't this information be available in the HELP file?)
Suggestions: I'd like the option to print the details I've added for specific deductions. Also, it would be useful to provide a specific link or email address to report errors found in TurboTax, so errors could be updated before taxes are filed.

What's great about it: Organized way to get through taxes
What's not so great: Medical mileage rate was not up to date (What else was not?) Inability to address married couples living in 2 states

Taxes are a breeze

I've used TurboTax for many years (so has my 74 year old father). All you have to do is answer simple questions and TurboTax tells you exactly what to put in each field. It's just so simple!
What's great about it: Ease of use

Makes Taxes Easier

Turbotax is definitely easier than staring at a paper tax form and wondering which items apply to you. It helps you along. To me it's like the difference between a multiple choice exam and and essay exam. It's easier when there are choices spelled out for you.
It isn't always intuitive and sometimes the explanations don't make things as clear as they could. Going back to change something is hard. Sometimes I wish it would just display a form that resembles a paper tax form, so you can tell where you are, but it's still better than doing a paper form
What's great about it: Prompts you and gives explanations
What's not so great: hard to go back and change things, some things unclear

We have used an accountant for years. we decided to try turbo tax and we found it to be very easy. We loved the step by step. Things we didn't know we could claim!
What's great about it: great step by step. Great for a newbe
What's not so great: A little difficult finding how to print copies and the actual return
