Year 7 using Turbo Tax

One year I was audited using Turbo Tax. I called the Audit Defense who handled the case without me actually talking to the (Uck) iRS!

Things are Getting Complicated

As taxes get more complicated especially if you have business expenses the necessary programming also gets more complicated. Overall I was pleased with the way the Turbotax program worked. I competed the form in only about 6 hours which is faster than many times earlier
What's great about it: Detailed prompting on complicated forms.
What's not so great: Too many prompts to review final version

This program is quick, easy, and accurate. I have used Turbo Tax since 1998 and haven't found a reason to stop. It is very easy to try different filing options to get the best return.
What's great about it: step-by-step instructions, easy of use,
What's not so great: Not able to open previous year returns with this years program.

I've used Turbo Tax for a number of years and am generally comfortable with the process. However, this year I think I'm going to have to file an Amended Return simply because I waited to long to complete my return and probably skipped some things.
Having remarried this year and filing a joint return after my wife had filed a single return for so many years also added to my confusion
What's great about it: easy to use in general
What's not so great: confusing regarding taxable SS income

2012 Turbotax

I have been using TurboTax since 2002 and just when I think that it cannot be improved any more, you some how improve upon it. Constant improvements year after year. I just can't imagine life without TurboTax short of paying extremely high fees to a CPA.
What's great about it: Smooth transitions from topic to topic, year vs year comparison, final review, Credit Card support for payment
What's not so great: Need more instruction on Short & Long Term Capital gains - cost basis
Pros: I bought or sold investments
