I like the software because its easy to return to where you were in the process. The explanations could be better when it comes to the 1099INT OR 1099R, If its noted in the W2 then why does it allow you to input info in the investment category. its like working twice on the same subject. oh well 3 hours and I'm done.
What's great about it: When all your paperwork is ready its easy.
What's not so great: When you don't have all your paperwork ready it takes forever.

Out of Country Payers

When preparing substitute Form 4852 for monies received from the United Kingdom I am asked for "Employer's or payers identification", this is not a problem because it is quaified "if known", however the check errors tells me that I need to enter the ZIP code. The U.S. zip code is numeric, the U.K. postal code, also Canada is alpha numeric and the form will not accept the data. If this gets fixed you wont need to keep telling me I have errors. Thanks; Arthurj
What's great about it: I have for years now found the product eay to work with
What's not so great: Inability to enter certain data

Happy first time user.

I did like TurboTax, this was my first time using it. It was nice not having to answer my questions from a booklet for once. It was east to use and very comprehensible. I would use this product again.
To explain the cons, I didn't like how certain boxes were not checked on the worksheets that needed to be filed to the IRS, it was just assumed the boxes applied. I feel when working with the IRS, you need to be thorough.
Second, I didn't like how I was being asked to file a 1099-R and I didn't have any applicable incomes other than wages. I tried to fix this, which turbo tax would not allow me to go back and fix this issue. This made me a bit concerned and worried I accidentally said yes or no to the wrong question. I ended up going through the printed returns and manually making sure everything looked ok.
What's great about it: Easy to use and comprehensible.
What's not so great: Some boxes not checked, couldn't open questions pertaining to forms to find errors.
Pros: I moved

I could have got this done cheaper at a "live" tax preparer.
What's great about it: Easy.
What's not so great: Pay for state and STILL pay for state e-file.
