what an ordeal

For the first time since 2002 I was not able to work with Turbotax over several days. I had to block my entire saturday after having lost 2011 data 3 times. For some reason, 2011 data once entered would not stay in from one session to the other. I had to start a new return 3 times-a real loss of time and energy and a lot of stress
For some reason I could not bypass a section. I used to be able to navigate within Turbotax anywhere. This time, I was forced to stay on Turbotax guide once I started. The final session took less than 2 hours ( i have a lot of charities to enter). So it was OK.
I don't know how to print my charities info ( including address). It would help me for next year. There should be a pop menu to let me do so. One of the reasons your program used to be great was that it would reproduce all info from the previous year.
Also, Turbotax does not explain where it gets the data from. At the last session it was going to save my data on my portable drive not my local C drive like it used to.
Finally I don't know if I am secured while working several hours with my DSL. Turbotax does not say when they need to be connected and when they don't. When we enter data I would expect to be off line and when needed to be connected to be prompted for on line. WIth hackers smarter and smarter I felt vulnerable the entire time. Yet I have a firewall but was it working?? I hope so!

What's great about it: once you have everything and dont' quit it 's working fine
What's not so great: would not remember my last year info, step-by-step does not allow to escape sections

Great for Normal People

I've been using TurboTax for 15 years and it gets better every year. I don't have a business and my income and expense sources are of pretty average complexity. Before 1997 I always used a tax accountant. For 1997 I tried TurboTax and realized that it asked the same questions and guided me through the filing process more easily than, and just as accurately as the accountant. And it costs a LOT less! And it just keeps getting better.
What's great about it: Step-by-step, useful answers to questions, quick and easy for federal returns
What's not so great: A little clunky regarding state returns if you only want to use it for a federal return

Quick, Easy, Accurate Return

I've been using Turbo Tax for over 15 years. I've never had any problems or audits. I do taxes for both my kids and I can't be happier with the whole process. I also use "It's Deductable" for all the donations I make every few months to several charities. FANTASTIC PROGRAM.
What's great about it: Always checks my previous years return and remunds me when I need to review an item
What's not so great: It's not free but it's worth the price and than some.

Well the horror of this years taxes is over. I've used TurboTax every year since 2000, probably before, and will again. They take the hair-pulling confusion out of the hideous disaster the politicians have made of the tax code. If only Marxist redistribution & capital cronyism didn't require a lawyers' labyrinth of nonsensical, sometimes whimsical, misdirection. Perhaps next year.
What's great about it: I like the fact that it uses a step by step journey through the complexity that is the tax code.
What's not so great: Didn't like having to scroll down the page every time I wanted to advance to the next step.

I spent one tax season as a tax preparer and savings for people with the turbo tax program is fantastic. This program gave the same refund and is WAY more affordable. Thanks Turbo Tax.
