Easy Money!

This was a simple, easy and effective means of getting my taxes prepared. I have used TurboTax for several years, and have consistently adored the way it makes preparing taxes a rapid, painless procedure. The 2012 version is better than ever, offering a vast amount of needful data in the form of helpful hints, advice, and disambiguation for anyone with tax related questions during the process of filing. Need to visit a website to complete your taxes? No problem. TurboTax will get you there, with a ready-to-follow link. Do you have endless, specific deductions? TurboTax will ask you what they are, one at a time, and help you enter them quickly. Have a question that you need answered? The software can get it done, with a full compliment of answers available instantly for each individual requirement. Have one that isn't covered? HA! Trick question. Seriously though, if you do just need that warm, fuzzy feeling you get from speaking to a human being to assuage your sense of tax-filing fear? They have representatives ready to assist you. And when it's all said and done, you can get your taxes filed electronically, and your refund deposited to your account within days. It doesn't get any better than that.
What's great about it: Simple, fast, intuitive, informative, and precise!
What's not so great: What's not to love?

Different Turbo

It seems to me that this software has been much easier to use in years past. I've been using Turbo tax for over 5 years, and will use it again, I'm sure, but it didn't seem as user-friendly.
What's not so great: Not what I'm used to with Turbo

TurboTax does the thinking

I've used TT for many years and it works well: doesn't miss anything, asks the right questions and no mistakes. The downside: if you have to FIND an entry you'll have to answer ALL the questions leading up to that entry AGAIN!! A big pain if all I want to do is edit a number. And the "Final" review is NOT final. When you e-file you may get a request for more information...not sure why the 'Final" check is not "Final". headache when you're in the middle of an electronic transmission. TT needs to fix this. Again, a good program, but a little too limiting
What's great about it: Doesn't miss anything
What's not so great: VERY hard to navigate

Hard complex tax laws are masked with easy to understand definitions. Advise is administered on a need by need basis. Easy to use and easy to understand. Confidence soars and tax dread is eliminated.
What's great about it: User Friendly Explanations
What's not so great: Nothing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Annual State of My Union Is Easier With Turbo Tax

I have used Turbo tax for years and recommend it to those who use competitor programs for it's ease of use and have not had a complaint from those to who have purchase with my recommendation. I like that you can go item by item if you really need to review a topic or can skip ahead if you know for sure that areas don['t apply at all.
What's great about it: Straightforward. Can Skip Around if You Know What You Are Doing.
What's not so great: Not Always Easy Getting a What If Answer

Disappointed

I have used TurboTax for many, many years and probably will use it again but the 2012 program was a disappointment. Instead of context sensitive help for each item you are sent to a general web page were you have to sort through hundreds questions and answers processed by "the community."
Probably the biggest disappointment was finding a program error - the program pulled data from the wrong field from an EasyStep interview that would have resulted in a tax calculation a $1000 less that it should have been. Trying to report the error to Intuit required wading through multiple layers of Ask an Expert which, after a 70 minute wait in one case, ended in a dropped connection. If you need to use the Estate and Trust Adjustment Summary with the Arizona state program then beware.
I also used TurboTax for Business this year and found customer support for that product much better.
What's great about it: - Uses relevant information from previous years - EasyStep data collection - Transfer of data to state tax form
What's not so great: - Help for each item no longer included - Computation error in AZ state tax
