We use TurboTax every year to do our taxes. Much easier than pen and paper filing!
What's great about it: walks through every step and provides detailed explanations of each item on our return

like importing tax data from financial institutions. Interest from banls would be helpful.
What's great about it: Good software control if you make an entry mistake.
What's not so great: like if it was more clear when you want to save to disc or file. Just say "Save to Disc"

Walked you all the way through the porcess and checks everything as you go.
When I went to a CPA always felt like there was more that could be done to get a refund but he /she did not cover all options. They may have been using the same program.
What's great about it: Very Easy and Compleate
What's not so great: Still had to pay

I had been having someone else doing our taxes and with Turbo Tax I sure could have been doing it for A LOT CHEAPER!!

While things have improved from last year with more detailed instructions for those in NY and in a gay marriage (sadly this software won't even let me use the term "same se*") the inability to import my spouse's Federal return data into our joint NY form was disappointing. Very annoying and time consuming to have to re-enter all the data, especially the numerous charitable contributions. Hopefully this will be the last year we have to file as single on our Federal returns.
What's great about it: Easy and comprehensive
What's not so great: Still time consuming for "same se*" marrieds
