The program led me astray trying to create a new K-1 form. Perhaps a question whether you need to create the form or need to enter data from an existing one might help. Otherwise TurboTex was an almost painless journey!
What's great about it: Very self-explanatory and thorough.
What's not so great: Easy to get misdirected at a couple of places

I don't have many deductions, so I shift back and forth from Turbo Tax to other programs. The one thing TT has over the others is Its Deductable. It gave me good value for my non-cash donations. Just make sure you don't go overboard.
What's great about it: Easily stepped you through all items
What's not so great: Charged me for my state E-File

Perfect for tax dummies!

Excellent, intuitive software. This was my first tax return preparation.
What's great about it: Everything was nicely laid out, and it was incredibly easy to know what information had to where, and what applied to me

Turbo Tax vs HR Block

I used to use HR Block tax software. The interview process had many confusing and complicated questions. Looked for an alternative and found it with Turbo Tax. The interview process is MUCH better, and simpler. I liked the progress reports and how it was laid out. So much more user friendly.
What's great about it: Very easy to install and use. Very clear set of questions.
What's not so great: Efforts to sell additional products

Still the best

Overal good improvements for 2012, However the program correctly identified that the state tax had to be mailed then did not readily provide a printing option. In order to print state file I had to back track and set the Federal file to Mail filing in order to get a print option for the state file.
Otherwise no issues.
What's great about it: Improvemnents in 2012 for faster navigation
What's not so great: Program identified State Return for Mail Filing -Program had to be forced to print state forms for filing

Helpful Software

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and am glad to continue to use it. It has some issues but in general much easier than doing it by hand.
What's great about it: itemized deductions much less painful than by hand
What's not so great: not always obvious where data is entered in forms
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
