This is the easiest way for an individual to figure out how to follow the IRS forms. Best addition was State and RITA!

Used to this over the years, so it goes well. Some minor quirks that I have gotten used to. May try different s/w next year due to cost.

2012 Income Tax

Easy to use and completed income taxes in a few hours. Directions were easy to follow and felt very comfortable after Turbotax error checks and audit check.

Great Customer Support BUT It's Needed 4 Glitches

There is so much to like about Turbo Tax, and we find that it improves every year. But the glitches noted below keep it from getting an Excellent rating because they take too much time to identify and solve, even with your EXCELLENT customer support team.
1.) We were able to import our brokerage data, but when we had to make changes the program kept freezing up. Totally unacceptable. Customer support tried everything they could -- they were excellent. They gave us the newest version, but same problem. The problem wasn't fixed until several hours work with customer support and then there was a new update available which actually fixed the problem. Customer support never did not know why that fixed the problem, but it did.
Also, one of our brokerages had unlabeled 2011 data still available for import (rather than just saying/showing no 2012 data available yet), and that took quite a while to figure out why the numbers weren't matching my records. The good news was that Turbo Tax had an easy/quick way of un-importing just that brokerage's information and eventually the brokerage put in the 2012 data for importing. However, it would be MUCH better if Turbo Tax had a way of keeping the broker from having old data still available in February of the next year.
What's great about it: Better every year: easier to find specifics; instructions clearer, making changes easier.
What's not so great: Still some issues with importing data.

Makes it easy

We really like the wizard like approach, which walks you step by step through the process. For the most part, it's easy and makes sense. There are a few areas that require more thought and research: the deduction module doesn't always make finding the item very easy and if you need to add an item that is not in the list, you have to jump through some hoops to add one. Also, when you want to view the summary in a 1040 type layout, it's hard to find that. But, from the standpoint of getting taxes done, if you've got all the paperwork available (and, even if you don't, you may be able to pull much of it electronically#, this makes it really easy to get them done. I finished in about 4 hours #and I had about three pages of charitable items to enter).
What's great about it: simple, straightforward, easy to use
What's not so great: help language is a bit arcane and reads like legal language

Made filing a snap!

It's always easy to file Turbo Tax Federal & State because previous years' data is quickly transferred and you can make easy comparison's between these numbers which highlights anything you may have left out or is a gross error! I would highly recommend this product and QUICKEN to others who are file their own taxes!
What's great about it: Transfer of previous years' data
What's not so great: Sometimes confusing when starting the state refund the first time through.
