Still my favorite

Been using Turbo Tax for years and love the way it remembers me from year to year. This year I changed states and it sent me to the Maryland state site for info, which wasn't that helpful. It would be nice if there was a better explanation of partial residence.
What's great about it: Uploading details from last year
What's not so great: State was a little confusing

Paying household employer taxes made easy

So if you're doing your own calculations for paying household employer taxes, all you pretty much have to do is correctly figure your state employer and state unemployment taxes. TurboTax literally takes care of all of your federal obligations simply by asking you, "How much did you pay?"
Total time spent in TurboTax: 135 minutes.

What's great about it: Had to type in two numbers -- that's it.
What's not so great: I did a whole lot of work last year for nothing. Not TurboTax's fault.

part time residency

The app did not choose the correct filing status for part time state residency.
Also, the 1st time Home Buyers Credit has a lot of bugs. If choosing 3b the app should be able to walk you through the form 5405. This ability is what is expected from a tax prep app.

Finished my Refund

I have used Turbo Tax for some 15 years now and have never had a problem with the software. I have limited knowledge of the tax code and some of the finance terms, but Turbo Tax usually keeps me straight and informed. I will continue to use Turbo Tax as long as I am able to file a tax return.
What's great about it: Takes you through each aspect of the tax forms which are pretty easy to fill out.
What's not so great: Difficulty in interpreting what Turbo Tax calls for and what the finacne documents refer to in some cases.

Not bad

It's easy to use, which is why most people use Turbo Tax. Plus, it's fairly quick if you have all your papers at hand so that you can enter information as Turbo Tax prompts you.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: cost
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
