overall I can't think of using a different tax system. TurboTax has saved me money and has let me do multible scenerio returns over the years with my dependents
What's great about it: love the import from previous years
What's not so great: College deductions get complicated

Did 4 sets of taxes for my family. So helpful and easy to understand. I love it. Been using for 10 years.

If you have your records in order it takes only 30 minutes to complete your Federal and State returns for a homeowner and student.
What's great about it: quick,simple and accurate

I'm a tax code novice who's been trusting tax software while doing my own taxes for 17 years. I've used TurboTax, TaxAct, and H&R Block's home tax prep software. I've found TurboTax to be the easiest to use AND the most comprehensive. HOWEVER, I've noticed over the past few years that there are year-to-year variables in the program that seem to alter the calculations of my refund, and that makes me a little nervous. (Is it changes in IRS rates/laws/codes? Who knows?) Overall, I believe that I'm CLOSE to where I should be but wonder if additional expert (read: accountant) eyes would increase my refund.
Nonetheless, I still recommend TurboTax as an economical way to file one's taxes.
What's great about it: Easiest tax software I've used (out of 3)
What's not so great: Some variables every year make we wonder...

The federal return is so easy. Carries things from year to year. I don't need to keep track of things , it does it for me.
PA State return said I had a business, but nothing on my federal. Program said I needed to remove it from my federal return, but there wasn't any business on the federal, just a W-2.

TurboTax Deluxe worth every cent

Taxes can be complicated, so errors will come up when entering all manner of information for self-employment expenses or itemized deductions. The TurboTax error check always catches it all. It's usually iterative...such as catching a dozen errors on the first time, and then after entering those, a few other related errors pop up, and then after dealing with those the last few finish it off. Well written software! And most of all I like the confidence I get when I compare last year's numbers in each line item with this year's. It helps me know I'm being consistent in my categories and didn't miss anything. I always feel like I the most that was coming to me, and that I can be confident if ever I am audited. I am a teacher, but I am self-employed as a handyman and my wife self-employed as an artisan.
What's great about it: Includes State, Side-by-side comparison with last year, Easy interviews, Great error review
