Even with a relatively complicated tax return, the TurboTax software is extremely thorough and easy to use. The ease with which prior years' tax information is carried forward to the current year is invaluable.
What's great about it: the easy ability to switch between the interview and the forms
What's not so great: not a very good search ability, e.g., I couldn't find long term capital gain tax rate

Need more info for NYS Deferred Comp that is not taxable. For some reason I didn't get the correct tax calculations first time entering tax data.

It is a great program and once you have learned to use it does the job. But it is not always easy to find the proper help. The importing of 1098 & 1099 forms is wonderful but you are not forewarned that before re-importing a corrected 1098 or 1099 that the old needs to be deleted. And if you import a gainskeeper file along with a 1099 you get double accounting. This is necessary sometimes when the 1099 does not have all the information completed but the return double accounting can be corrected by later deleting the gainskeeper file.
What's great about it: Fast and accurate
What's not so great: Help sometimes not easy to use

I Love Doing My Taxes

I love Turbo Tax for doing returns, it walks you through the process, it highlights areas that I may have "forgotten" to look at and it verifies for accuracy. And it files them for me. Wow what a difference from having to fill out the forms, check the math and hope I had gotten it right.

Whether it is a problem with my brokerage house or with Turbo Tax, I could download only 1-2 1099s and had to enter the balance by hand. This was time consuming. Other than this issue, I found the site easy to navigate and the calculation time less this year than last year after I entered data and I was waiting for revised status.
What's great about it: Faster this year
What's not so great: Some W-2s and 1099 are not downloadable

Great Technical help

Grace led me thru finding old PC files on hard drive and getting them on Mac Delux after someone else helped me with that download. I had done about half my taxes on a PC and things were a mess. She was amazingly helpful on Wednesday April 3.
Today, April 5, Randy solved a problem with efile in about 3 minutes. Very helpful and capable.
