Haved used TurboTax for many years. It performs equally well when our returns were difficult as now when they are easy.

2012 Turbo Tax Review

Been using TurboTax since 1997 and its a good product. I would like TurboTax to add back in the lady's voice as a guide for explainations.
What's great about it: Auto mode of moving through return is easy
What's not so great: Multi State Questions are somewhat complex

2012 Turbo Tax Filing with Ease

Very Good overall. Like the older versions where the program would have audio to walk you through the steps. Now you have to read it for yourself.
What's great about it: Easy to use.
What's not so great: Didn't have the audio it used to speak you through each step. Now have to read it.

On each entry of a 1099-R, (three) into TB,I was always asked how much of the amount in box 1 was applied to the Minimum Required Distribution (MRD). This was even asked if it was retirement income spread monthly over the year. There should have been a question in the beginning as to whether MRD was required instead of wading through lots of questions until finally Turbo Turbo Tax was satisfied there was no requirement for a MRD. It was very cumbersome and awkward.
What's great about it: Easy navigation through return
What's not so great: Handling of 1099 R

Much more work is needed in making the State tax section as easy as the Federal one. Also, it was not clear how to deal with bond fund income that came from multiple states. It should be possible to enter the amount coming from a particular state that is tax free in that state.
What's great about it: Overall, easy to use, especially in switching between forms mode and step-by-step.
What's not so great: Not very helpful with state returns.

Turbo Tax since 2008 and happy

I really like the donation calculator for goods given to charities. The one thing that is problematic is that some charities do not have their address on their receipt so it is difficult to be totally accurate in this area no matter how detailed your personal records are.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax guided me through a complex process with ease
What's not so great: I cannot think of any negatives
