Love that I have the option to do my own forms if I choose. Guide covered all my tax situations as usual.
What's great about it: detailed question guide

The prrogram was very comprehensive and moved in a logical progression. I was confident that it was covering all the situations after I discovered an abnormal income item in my 1099s. Ihad contacted the IRS, but need not have worried. Turbo Tax handled the item exactly as the IRS told me.
What's great about it: Accuracy with information and computation
What's not so great: vague Help comments

How to know?
on April 5, 2013

For some reason, last years' information didn't appear like it usually does, so it was a little more difficult to compare to make sure I wasn't leaving anything out this year. But even with that little glitch (which could have been something I omitted when I first loaded the program) it went extremely fast and I would say I was completely done inputting within an hour! Woohoo! Of course, that's because I had all MY information lined up ahead of time (receipts totaled, etc.) And I must say, I was pretty shocked at my refund amount, in a good way. But how do I really know, without using another tax program and re-doing my taxes, whether or not I got the absolute BEST refund I could get? I don't! And, frankly, I don't care. I'm happy with what I'm getting.
My only complaint is when I went to file. I always end up having to pay State taxes, so no need to E-file those and pay the fee associated with that privilege. This year there was no option to E-file Federal and mail in the state forms, so I had to literally spend over an hour trying to figure out how to accomplish THAT task. The FAQs were no help in that area.
But overall I am quite happy, the program is very easy to follow and that's what I need since I wouldn't know where to start otherwise.
What's great about it: very easy, quick,

I think it has been 20 years [or more] for me on Turbo Tax. I have never had a problem.
It has seen me through retirement, refinancing home, selling income property, remodeling home. And everything else....
What's great about it: Straight Forward. Complete. Integrated with Quicken.
What's not so great: Not a face-to-face human transaction.

Tried a free online tax software first, definitely did not match up to Turbo Tax in any way, shape or form needless to say I made more work for myself but learned I will stick with Turbo Tax in the future.
What's great about it: Ease of use and ability to locate forms for review/editing.
What's not so great: Educational expense question/answer area lacking. Had to call the IRS for the necessary information.

Painless
on April 5, 2013

I started using TurboTax at least 12 years ago after paying a fortune to accountants. It is incredibly simple even for anybody without accounting skills.A painless, step-by-step hand holding that gently prods you for information to make sure that you are entering everything. Plenty of chances to review everything as you go along. And plenty of help along the way if you have questions. The icing on the cake is at the end when it revews your form for any errors. Then your choice of how to file and pay--simplest method is to simply file and pay online (at this point you simply need an index finger to push the e-file button). No more standing in the long post office lines with tax mailers in early April. I can not imagine a simpler method of doing taxes---this is a breeze.
What's great about it: Extremely easy process to do your taxes.
What's not so great: None

I really enjoyed the experience, however would have like to been able to print the confirmation information after e-filing federal return.
What's great about it: Walked right through return
What's not so great: Didn't get to print confirmation of E-file
