I have used Turbo Tax for 6 years now and find it very easy to use. I like the explanation boxes while going through the program. If I don't qualify for a deduction or credit this year, I can think about making changes for next year in order to qualify. I also like the way my returns are printed out with all the worksheets for my records.
What's great about it: Very user friendly. Don't need to know anything about taxes
What's not so great: A little slow when going back to make changes

Decades of satisfaction

TurboTax has been a staple of mine for decades (1990's through current). It is a simple, complete program that follows logical steps, has helpful hints, and reference materials available at any time.

I have been using this product for many years, and have always been impressed with the ease at which it walks you through the process. I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to prepare his taxes, even if he/she ends up taking it to a tax preparer later (I have never done this, but think it would provide some point of reference for those who do have someone else prepare their taxes).
What's great about it: Easy to use. Provides a comprehensive audit before submission.
What's not so great: None. An easy and affordable way to file taxes.

Second State Form and NJ state

I live in NJ and have been filing Non-Resident NY for about 15 years by hand. I decided to use TurboTax this year and was disappointed that the charge was excessive for the benefit and did not include a free e-file. I still had to enter some data by hand and it wasn't much different than completing the fill-in form provided by NY State.
Separately, I am disappointed with Turbo NJ software from a few years ago when contribution to a SEP IRA was automatically carried over. I discovered this on my own, but for one year, it was over 3 years beyond the date to file an amended return and I lost about $300. TurboTax did give me free software for one year - but that's not $300. I expect more.
What's great about it: Transferred about 50% of theh information automatically
What's not so great: Expensive, doesn't include efile and that's another charge, still had to enter data manually

Excellent product; I like how my information is loaded from prior years return. However, for the cost I would expect to be able to file a state tax form for free. Overall, This is a good, clear method to file your taxes.
What's great about it: Fast, Easy to get answers

easy and nerve relieving

I really like being able to move between subjects, forms and the step by step, and Turbotax doing everything to get my taxes out of here and on their way. It did take most of the day, but I remember times doing taxes by hand that took days. I am so glad that I found Turbotax. I work for an accounting firm and I still like doing them myself, knowing what goes into them, not letting someone else handle it. I know the ins and outs of my own taxes and I am satisfied with this program.
What's great about it: thorough in all subjects, easy to get help when needed, I really like the charitable section that gives reasonable costs
What's not so great: Taxes are long anyway, took most of the day, Not really the software's fault
