Easy as a click!

I use to pay an accountant to prepare my taxes. From the first time I used TT, I have been a believer ever since 5+ years.
What's great about it: Work as you go
What's not so great: None...but a suggestion would be maybe an online course or a tutorial as we go. Just a little more interactive

TurboTax to the rescue once again! The program walks you through every step and helps you find all the deductions you qualify for. Great program! Will use it again next year!
What's great about it: easy to use, walked me through every step, found me lots of refunds!
What's not so great: None

A Disappointment This Year

I've used TT for years and, in general, it's a good product. This year I learned that it doesn't handle 1099-B's where Box 2b is checked (unallowed loss - not a wash sale). I also noticed that it isn't very good with the change from nontaxable interest to nontaxable dividends (mutual fund investment in muni's). What I found was muni's with no taxable dividends but nontaxable interest were listed on the attachment when you have too many dividends to list on Sched B with zero dividends. It's not an error or anythibng, it just makes for a sloppy return.
Also, I used the online chat capability one time. I had to wait around 20 minutes (not too bad) but then the advice I got was not any good. Since it was "free", I got what I paid for! (On the other hand, if TT ever decides it wants to charge for this kind of support, I would not be inclined to pay based on this experience.)
Yes, I will likely use TT in the future. I just keep hoping and praying that my return will get simpler as I think it (TT) handles sim[ple returns well.
What's great about it: A great calcu;ator
What's not so great: Doesn't Handle Everything - Even Some "Ordinary" Stuuf

2012 Completed

The Turbo Tax process was very good. The directions were easy to follow. I used the help available by phone and was able to get the help I needed. I did not find the on line questions and answers to be helpful. Might be OK for very very basic information....but when a bit more involved, it did not work.
What's great about it: The step by step process was excellent.
What's not so great: Help for "ministers of religion" were minimal and vague.

I HAVE TRIED OTHER SOFTWARE, BUT NONE MATCHES THE EASE AND CLARITY OF INSTRUCTION YOU PROVIDE. EXCELLENT SOFTWARE PRODUCT AND SUPPORT.

TurboTax saves me a lot of time and worry, and with ItsDeductible to handle the donations its an easy process to file your own taxes confidently.
What's great about it: Self explainatory, with plenty of help options.
What's not so great: paying taxes
