2012 TurboTax Review

I've done my taxes every year for the past 57 years. TurboTax almost makes the process a joy. Their Comprehensive, Careful, Clear program inspires Confidence. That's four "Cs" for an A plus program. Good going.
What's great about it: Easy, accurate, current & reasonable.
What's not so great: Only cons involve the tax code, not TurboTax

Problem with printing

I had to print each page separately because if I print the entire return at once it would start out in English and then jump over into some foreign language. Waste of paper and time.
What's great about it: doing the return was easy
What's not so great: printing in a foriegn language

A God-send for doing your taxes

Extremely thorough questionaires and step-by-step process for Federal return. Asked me about things I would never have thought to ask myself, and this is the umpteenth time I've used TurboTax. Easy e-filing to get it all out of the way, right away.
State program is more bare-bones, but still does the job. 'Just doesn't give me quite as confident a feeling that everything is perfect. One section in particular dealt with adjustments to State tax deducted from my Federal return. I had to bypass it, then return to that section after examining the applicable tax forms (another nice feature of TurboTax) and guess at what entry was expected of me. I can only hope I guessed right.
All in all, I'm relieved that I've again been able to get thru my Federal and State return pretty painlessly, as opposed to the several week-long ordeal I used to go through prior to TurboTax, and I'm confident that I've maximized my refund.
Even if you already have a professional to prepare your taxes, you should buy TurboTax Deluxe, take an evening to go through the entry process, and compare the results to those of your preparer. You might be shocked at how well you can do it yourself -- with TurboTax's help.
What's great about it: Left no doubts on every facet of Federal taxes, pretty good on State (CT)
What's not so great: A few sections in State not as well-explained as they should have been; left me feeling uneasy.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easy to use if you have all your information ready. It didn't save my information from last year because I have a new computer. Price is up almost 300% from 2 years ago.

Beyond Light speed

I have used Turbo Tax for years now and it has always been simple and fast with no problems. I recommend it to everyone that asks about tax software and to all my friends.

I cannot think of anything I did not like about TT. I have used it for several years and am very happy with its application. Switching back and forth from interview to forms is very easy and simple. I like easy and simple.
