Leads you to believe that your return is ready for e filing until you try doing it then it raises flags for which the answers are not easy to find. Better to raise flags as you are answering the questions rather in the end. Must provide a contact number as you go to sort the confusion out before a section is completed. It was my first experience and not very pleasant one
What's great about it: Decent Q&A approach
What's not so great: Confusing with some forms like K1. Guidance is poor. Raises questions in the end on tha.t
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Leaving the Step-by-Step, for example to look at a Schedule, it was difficult to return to the same place in the SbS, and when I finally got back to the last item, the bullets I had selected had not been retained. It would be helpful to have a simple "Resume Step-by-Step" button so that no matter to where you wander, you can always return to where you had left off in the interview. Just going back through the Topic List was not specific enough.
After discovering an error on a form, it was difficult to make the correction on the form without returning to interview. If there are "editable" and non-editable versions of the form, I was not able to determine how to access the version that would let me make corrections directly in the form itself.
We have foreign pension income, without a 1099-R from the foreign payer (and therefore no Federal ID No.. TurboTax should have a separate section in the Step-by-Step to cover this circumstance. It is not that rare.
It was complicated getting the correct TD F 90-22.1 forms, for both individually and jointly-owned foreign bank accounts. It took quite some searching to get all of the correct information and continuation pages together.
Although we file our federal return electronically, we still must print out and mail the TD F 90-22.1. Just before or after filing electronically, TT should suggest printing out the form.
The step-by-step interview should ask if the filer has had a change-of-address, and if so, suggest Form 8822.
What's great about it: For most part, Step-by-Step was comprehensive and logical
What's not so great: Had difficulties with special circumstances and returning to completed information.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

My taxes are fairly easy. Nothing other than typical deductions. I was recommended to use Turbo tax by my old supervisor, who had more complex taxes. I liked the walk through of the medical because I had unexpected expenses this year. It helped quite a bit. I have been using Turbo tax for aprx 10 years now.
What's great about it: Simple walk through steps help me be complete
What's not so great: ads, other products to sell

So happy that what used to take me six hours, now only takes one and a half. I still don't like to pay taxes, but now I don't dread it. Thanks!
What's great about it: Transfer of data? Excellent. Succinct questions-great.
What's not so great: Honestly, nothing.
