I prepare taxes as my profession, personally TurboTax is the best for home use, but you still need to know what you are doing!
Following the questions is easy, but you must know what is being asked - use the HELP section! If you do not know, consult a professional!

EASY RETURN

I FOUND IT EASY AND THE RETURN TO SPOT LEFT OFF A GREAT FEATURE WITH NO PROBLEMS IN THE PROCESS. PARTICULARLY HAPPY WITH THE FINAL CHECK TO MAKE SURE ALL WAS OK. A GREAT PRODUCT!!
What's great about it: LED THROUGH THE TRICKY AREAS EASILY
What's not so great: NONE
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax Review 2012

1099 c is a very complicated form. Granted most filers do not need it but when you do it is not covered by Turbo Tax. TT leads you to a huge information book with several worksheets so you can try and fill out Form 982 by yourself. TT gives no guidance as to where this info goes and as far as I can tell there is no way to file it electronically. I feel in this economy with lots of forclousers and Short Sales this should be part of Turbo Tax. Now I have to pay an accountant to handel this when I thought TT would do it all.
Because of this I felt I had to purchase "Audit Defence" to help me when the IRS comes looking.

What's great about it: The Easy Guide is very effective for filling out the necessary basic forms
What's not so great: Neither Turbo Tax forms or Easy Guide covers all forms if you have non normal information to enter such as 1099 C

Found Every Deduction!

I spend my time teaching art and being a mom - I'm intelligent, but finances are not my "thing". Turbo tax helped me through every step without making me feel like I should know everything already.
What's great about it: Leads you through almost everything

I love this software, only issue I have is having to pay another fee for state return, thought it was included, and to have audit defense, which if they really stood by their software, would have been factored into the cost also.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: have to buy features to complete

No Hassle Filing

Overall, it's a quick and easy way to do my taxes. I even used a "let our professional tax service check over your Turbotax filing for free" deal, and they came up with the same thing I did. This makes me feel confident I've done my taxes correctly using Turbotax.
What's great about it: Quick and easy
What's not so great: I'm not quite certain some of the more unusual tax laws apply to me
