Easy Peasy

TurboTax makes doing taxes easier than I expected. There were a few issues with the Minnesota returns earlier on in the year, but the problems were resolved very quickly. Keep up the good work.
What's great about it: By far the easiest way to get the old taxes done, short of having someone else do them for you
What's not so great: Nothing really.

Super Easy!

I'm a fan of Turbo Tax -- especially for returns that are like mine (not very complex). I'm a CPA who doesn't like to prepare tax returns. So, Turbo Tax just walks me through the steps logically and quickly. It even compares my current year numbers to last year's numbers right on screen. I know that everything is up-to-date as far as compliance goes and Turbo Tax will advise me of any changes that might affect my return. The program is well worth the minor cost. Great job, folks!

Although the program gets a lot of information from the previous return, oddly it omits some very simple pieces of data. Also, if there is a problem with a 1099 that has been imported, it is difficult to see the error because it doesn't let you see the data unless you understand where to look. It took me a lot of time to find a significant error that required me to request an amended 1099. If I hadn't noticed, it would have made a big difference in my taxes. Also finding a specific form is not as easy as it used to be, but finding the specific worksheet that contributed the number was almost impossible, so I was required to edit the field directly over the objection of the program. It used to be easier, but as the years go by the interface get into the way.
What's great about it: It does everything. It has all the forms and does all the calculations.
What's not so great: The interface obscures knowing how to fix odd errors.
