Tax turbo

I have depended on Turbo Tax for the last 9 years to do my annual tax returns. As long as I have all the documentations I trust that any future encounter with the IRS will be a brief and pleasant one.
What's great about it: keeps up with changes, easy to follow and implement.
What's not so great: a bit pricey.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Taxes made simple

After retirement and a lot of financial investing and home improvements, I thought filing our taxes was going to be a long, confusing ordeal. The Turbo Tax program helped me through everyone of my questions effortlessly. I would recommend this program to anyone wanting to do their own taxes. Turbo Tax really does walk you through step by step in easy to understand language. Thank you Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: After retirement, with financial investments-nightmare, Turbo Tax made it effortless.
What's not so great: Some extra screens, but understand you have to touch on everything.

turbo tax is easy to use and affordable. I sill don't know why my friends use expensive tax preparation businesses when they can easily do it with turbo tax

Easy File

Having used TurboTax for many years it is my annual tax software. TurboTax 2012 seemed to remove some of the manual capability. Or maybe it was there and not obvious how to use it. Occasionaly, one wants to go into a specific form or worksheet and manually change information. It didn't seem easy to do this year.
The 1040 ES forms 1-4 that print on the lower part of the paper are too low on the sheet. The tax payer id numbers don't print unless they are scaled on the print preview screen. Also, since they are to be cut, why not format all four on one sheet of paper.
When printing a return to be filed do not include the instructions for filing in the print package. Or, place an intentionally blank page behind the instructions. Then if the pages are printed duplex, it will be separated from the sheets to be filed.
All in all I am still very pleased with TurboTax 2012.
What's great about it: The walk through is a thorough and speedy way to complete the return.
What's not so great: It was difficult to file my state return separately after E Filing my federal return.

I had already done taxes on a spreadsheet of my own making and it matched what I got with Turbo Tax. Difference was the time it took. Turbo Tax was faster.

never look forward to it

do it yourselfers should like being led through the complexities and feel everything has been covered. I don't really enjoy the sales pitches but then I may be in the minority. Seems to get a little bit more complex each year but keep up the good work.
What's great about it: very thorough
What's not so great: over kill as i approached completion
