Easier than taking to a CPA

For years my husband and I had to gather all our tax items and take them to a CPA to prepare our taxes. Then I discovered Quicken and Turbo Tax and realized I didn't need to leave home to enter all pertinent information on my 1040 and state forms. I also learned it was a great money-saver for us. As a widow now, it is even easier to sit at my computer and let Turbo Tax do the work. Thanks for such good help.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax is most efficient way of filing

Quick and easy

I've found the program quick and easy to use. I didn't look hard, but the inline calculator wasn't evident, and was handier on previous versions. It's not a big deal using one outside, but cut and paste verses just transferring the total would be easier. Importing prior year's information does speed things up, if you can find the appropriate file!
What's great about it: Gives you option of editing directly, if you know what you want, or considerable additional info available if needed
What's not so great: Keeps pestering me about state, where I do not need to file there

Done at Last

I had been fretting about my taxes for 2012. I was retired, had lost my home (no more mortgage deduction) and was now leasing an apartment in a senior community. I was afraid that I was going to have to pay out much more than I could afford. Since I had used TurboTax before, I decided to give it another shot. I had put all of the receipts that I knew would be helpful in preparing my taxes into a file. I was able to sit down with my receipts and TurboTax, and in one afternoon, I was able to prepare and file my taxes. The process was quick, painless, and my anxieties were relieved. In fact, I not only didn't have to pay Federal or State taxes, but I even got a Federal tax refund.
I can only commend Intuit and TurboTax and would recommend it to anyone.
What's great about it: Straight forward instructions, easy to follow.
What's not so great: I wasn't unhappy about one thing.

Turbo Tax is an easy way to do the undesirable task of filing income tax! It is easy to understand and if you have any questions, they answer them.
