easy and inexpensive

I go to turbo tax because it seems to me to be exactly like what you get from a professional tax preparer but you do it from the comfort of your own home. You get the paper work you need just like you would for your expensive expert but you enter the data yourself. I finished my taxes in one day. Easy and e-filed quickly. I wouldn't do it any other way.

A Taxing Experience - NOT!!

There should be a third level of entry for the various information where the various categories are listed and you can check the ones that apply to you. Then when you select the EasyGuide you will only see the categories that apply. The way TT works now if you select EasyGuide you need to go through every category. This is time consuming.
What's great about it: Ability to go back to previous entries and resume where left off.
What's not so great: Some of the "Credits" calculated by TT were confusing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

I love how easy it is to use but I had a few problems with the health insurance part... I had both government and private insurance with a gap in the middle and it kept erroring my form but wouldn't let me correct it.
What's great about it: It's easy and fast
What's not so great: Some of the forms didn't work right away
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

All the updating of the forms during tax season makes me nervous. What if I submit my tax return early, and there are updates to forms, or the tax tables that I used in my return?
What's great about it: Easy to switch between step by step, to my view of the forms
What's not so great: So many updates...

6 years and still loving it!!!

I have used turbotax for 6 years now and it has consistently gotten me the best deal. Before I started using it my father did my taxes and the year I made the switch my dad still did them. He would even take them to a professional tax accountant. Turbotax got me a check that was over $500.00 more than what both my father and the accountant stated. Since then I will never go back.
What's great about it: Easy to use interface, simple questions, the BEST deductions out there.
What's not so great: None.

Excellent Software

This is basically very good software. One must be quite organized and have all your facts/numbers/etc. in order to use it efficiently. I use the Deluxe as I am self-employed, and it's very easy and quick. The only issue I have is its sometimes difficult to find an answer when the software does something automatically that I want to somehow undo or change. But in the past two years, I've needed to call in for help, and been able to fairly quickly get the help I needed. Points for the phone-in help line!
What's great about it: Simple to use, back up help (by phone) when needed
What's not so great: Details, details, details

Fine as always

Great error checking. For example, the program would not let me make my my usual fully deductible IRA contribution. I was getting a bit exasperated and ready to override when I checked the tax laws (partly thru program help) and discovered the correct reason why.
I like to use Forms mainly but hop to step-by-step wherever things get complicated.
What's great about it: helps me avoid both tax law and numerical errors
What's not so great: Would like better guidance on how to distribute property tax, etc. deductions between home (sch A) and business (Sch C)
