What's great about it: Better prompts this year
What's not so great: State tax section wastes time for states thaat don't have that tax

2012 Federal and State Taxes with TurboTax

This is my third year doing taxes using TurboTax and it is worth every penny for the convenience, especially since the state and federal agencies no longer mail out forms and instructions like they used to do. The product is very well laid out and carefully explains what is needed and what it is doing step-by-step.
What's great about it: Easy to use, great to import data from my 2011 TurboTax filing
What's not so great: No cons. Great product.

Easy Taxes

I've been using Turbo Tax to prepare my Federal and State tax returns for many years. I've found each new release to be easier and simpler to use than the previous one. I especially like the ability to switch between the step-by-step process and the forms view - it used to be much more difficult to do this. The import functions have also improved a lot recently - I can now import dividend and interest income from my bank and brokerage accounts with a few mouse clicks. This used to be very time consuming and error prone. Now that brokers must calculate and report cost basis has also greatly simplified the process of reporting capital gains and losses. This was a huge headache in the past. I'm very thorough and detailed so I cross-check all of the calculations. I'm happy to report that I've never found any calculation errors in any of my returns. In fact, Turbo Tax has often found errors and omissions that I had overlooked, which gives me a great deal of confidence when I submit my return. Using Turbo Tax I know I don't have to worry that I've missed anything. In fact, confidence that my return is correct is probably the biggest selling point for me.
What's great about it: The Step-by-Step process was easy to use
What's not so great: Some of the inline help could be improved

Turbo Tax does it again

Turbo Tax makes my tax filing task each year a breeze. All I have to do is get my records together and the rest is so easy. I just respond to the Turbo Tax questions and my Federal and State tax returns are done. It's that easy.
What's great about it: Easy to use. Ensures nothing is missed.
What's not so great: In all my years using Turbo Tax, I haven't found any.
