Much easier to file taxes this way than it is to collect all the paperwork and sift through all the rules yourself. However, the cost of filing a state return electronically is very expensive. You do have the option to print the paperwork and mail it in yourself, if you don't want to pay the e-file fee. I buy Turbo Tax to avoid paperwork, though, so it is still disappointing. Maybe if I actually got a refund, it wouldn't be so bad.
What's great about it: Easy to use and understand taxes and deductions
What's not so great: E-filing state returns is expensive
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have used turbo tax for years. I like it very much, except for bring continually asked if I want to upgrade. I bought the version I needed!

Better than hand preparing

I tried another product a few years ago and came back to Turbo Tax. The automatic uploading of prior year data speeds the preparation particularly given we have five returns for the family. Only problem was a quirk in the system that doubled up some disability income in the forms, but this did not impact the final return. This happened last year also. They have indicated this will be corrected in next years software.
What's great about it: Automatic entry of prior year information
What's not so great: Does not give you a choice on printing estimate tax froms
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Delux Version is exellent

I have used TurboTax for many years now and don't plan on switching. Always easy to use and very good explanations for subjects being worked on. Only critique is that some pages seem to take redundant input when editing.
