I like turbotax for simple returns but it would be nice if it included more than one state's forms. Feel like I already pay enough and get charged for extra states and efiling state returns is too much. Also, filing out forms for foreign income is always problematic. Efiling is a pain - Always being asked for info that doesn't make sense (US address and zip codes for foreign companies that have no US address etc.) and the state forms for foreign income were incorrect this year. State form said we owed $145, but I called the state to confirm and they said we didn't owe anything. Didn't even have to file a state return. Why didn't turbotax give us that same information???
What's great about it: Works well for simple stuff
What's not so great: Foreign income and paying for extra state forms

There is nothing you can say against using Turbo Tax. It makes tax time bearable. No way would I give up using Turbo Tax even if the government steps in and trys to take that over also.

I've been using Turbo Tax since 1999. It gets easier every year. I hate paying taxes but love being able to do them myself with the help of TT.

Pretty handy software and a decent price at Costco with the coupon. Free Federal E-File, wish state was as well; but I can print and mail no problem.
What's great about it: Ease of Use, Helpful Guidance, Intuitive
What's not so great: Can't look at some helpful workseets at times, Some hiccups with Iowa's nuances

Turbo(ed) my 2012 TAX(es)

Biggest issue I had was that the help questions were not intuitive, are leading to the areas that needed clarification. Overall the software was easy to use, asked the correct questions, and did smoothly fill in the correct paperwork to file. E filing was smoother this year compared to the past.
What's great about it: The format of the software and the spreadsheet questions were excellent this year. Compared to previous years easier
What's not so great: Help questions, website, did not answer questions and community was not a great help.

State (MA) Filing Issue
on April 3, 2013

The program check stopped me from e-filing. Schedule B of (Form 1-NR/PY for part year resident of MA) asked on line 4a for the interest received from MA banks while a non-resident of MA. During the review, the program said that the "amount on Line 4a should be entered on Schedule R/NR" which allocates income (including interest income) between resident and nonresident periods. Schedule R.NR is where I got the figure on line 4a. Very Frustrating!! Realizing that interest & dividend income was below the limits required for schedule B, I deleted the form and was able to e-file the State return. The Schedule B that I downloaded from MA did not have a line 4a, nor did the instructions for schedule B mention a line 4a. Perhaps TurboTax had on old or early version of Schedule B(???).
What's great about it: New format worked well
What's not so great: Program problems with MA filing (Part year resident)
