Thorough and Easy Taxes

We've used Turbo Tax for many years. It is a great product. Very easy to use and always accurate. We always recommend this to friends and family.

THIS WAS SO EASY TO PROCESS. I HAD TO LOG OFF SEVERAL TIMES AND EACH TIME I LOGGED BACK THE PROGRAM PICKED UP WHERE I LEFT OFF. LOVED NOT HAVING TO HUNT FOR LAST PAGE OR LOSING ANY INPUT I POSTED.--

Very Easy to use!

This is the 2nd year I've used Turbo Tax... and am very happy with the ease of use and ability to quickly see the forms.
What's great about it: Liked the step by step format, and the ability to work directly with the forms.
What's not so great: was not able to bring federal information into the second state form.

I have used Turbo Tax since 1997. Each year I have found this program to be very user friendly and simplifies my tax return.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Unoptimized college savings

Pub 970 was far more helpful on addressing college expenses than turbo tax.
Cashed in some Series EE savings bonds expecting the interest to be tax free (or at least a portion of it). Although college expenses had been recorded and were well in excess of the amount required to produce the maximum American Opportunity Credit, Turbo Tax did nothing to identify savings available due to the savings bond interest. I bought Turbo Tax to avoid these headaches, instead it complicated them.
What's great about it: No problems with the simple stuff.
What's not so great: American Opportunity Credit and Savings Bond Int Deduction were manual

Almost perfect

The comparison between 2012 and 2011 helped to prevent missing an important deduction. The error checker caught an extra entry for a bank name in interest earned.
What's great about it: W-2 entered once for all parts of the 1040
What's not so great: Almost missed the sales tax deduction

TurboTax - My Tax Return Solution

TurboTax precludes an annual major migraine headache along with eliminating hours of trying to decipher Federal & State tax instructions with understandable interpretations in
a logic order and topic sequence. Doing taxes myself versus
paying a tax preparer not only saves me money, but more importantly, it educates me to the specific issues that are
needed to develop a tax strategy for the coming year, providing
choices and money saving options. It all begins with TurboTax!!
