I started using Turbo Tax after retiring from an accounting firm where I used a different program to do my taxes. Turbo Tax is easy and asks questions so as I become less acquainted with the latest tax changes, I am protected from missing something new. I also can review my latest status for filing that can change at any time. I always print everything out and that is an efficient process, too. I save the file but do like my hard copy for review or if it is needed as backup for something like a financial application, I am ready to go.
I also prepare a tax return for my aunt as her Power of Attorney so having both returns in one place is convenient.
What's great about it: Last year's detail transferring over automatically is a real plus
What's not so great: It seems to almost take too long to do because of all the questions

A mixed bag. Some good, some missing features.

Overall it works quite well. The lack of a Linux version keeps it from getting 5 stars, though. I know, not a big market, blah-blah. Still...
The user interface gets tweaked every year, sometimes with, ahem, mixed results. The 2012 tweak is pretty good. Clean and simple.
Overall, it is worth the cost if your tax situation is such that you can't use a free online service.
One annoyance, albeit only for a few people, is the missing Form 1116 Line 10 Explanation of Carryback/Carryover. Common people, you do the calculation, but you can't explain it? Your customers have complained about this for years. Could you please improve this?
What's great about it: Works well for most situations.
What's not so great: NO Linux version. Form 1116 Explanation Line 10 not provided

My 10+ Year Using TurboTax, Simple & Quick Again!

Been using TurboTax for 10+ years to file returns for my in-laws, my daughter/husband and wife/me. Love the importing of last year's info as it simplifies everything. Easy to navigate to double check areas I skipped or found added supporting paperwork later. Handles complex issues such as NY/NJ offsets. I feel confident I've prepared an accurate return. Full disclosure: I own INTU stock.
What's great about it: Comprehensive, yet simple and easy
What's not so great: None.

Turbotax every year

I use it every year and confident I am getting the best deduction I can get. I have not gone to the professional and have everything itemized and chances are they probably find another item or so, but will need me to dig for more paperwork.
I am very satisfied with turbotax and the prompts help me jog my mind for as much deduction as I can.
What's great about it: Easy to use, easy to go back and edit, and easy to file
What's not so great: Is it my best deduction?

Simple Refund

The program is simple to install. The detail on the majority is right on. Some of your deductions could be missed if you don't go thru all the details, however if you're more concerned with speed and simplicity than saving a few extra bucks it can be nice.
What's great about it: Low cost and fairly simple
What's not so great: Some sections can be confusing, and may miss if not careful to read.

Excellent Software!

I have loved Turbo Tax for the past five years. It makes fileing taxes easy and quick. I only wish the continue buttons on the summary pages were available at the top of the summary. This would prevent unnessary scrolling.
What's great about it: Takes you step by step
What's not so great: I wish the continue buttons were available at top and bottom of each summary page.
