2012 fed and state tax return

I have used Turbo Tax for four years and will continue to use it in the future. I was a state tax employee for 33 years. All I needed was a form and a electroic filing.
What's great about it: It pro rated my state return quick and easy
What's not so great: I had trouble with the 1099R and reporting the taxable amount.

My turbo tax experience

I really love this program. They really make it fast and easy to do your taxes.
What's great about it: Fast and easy
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

TurboTax is easy to follow step to step and makes you feel assured that nothing is overlooked that would benefit you. Any errors are found. I was surprised at how thorough the checking is performed. I made an error on the zip code on the address of one of my charitable contributions and TurboTax final review detected it and I needed to make the correction before filing

One request from a new widow

As always, TurboTax got me through the maze of federal and state taxes feeling confident that everything is right. I was dreading this process more than usual this year, since my husband died last year and I wasn't sure what new wrinkles to expect. As it turned out, nothing was really different.
But I was lulled into a false sense of security, and would have liked an extra bit of prodding. As always, TurboTax remembered all the info we had entered last year. I sailed through it, responding NO when asked whether I needed to enter an additional Form so-and-so. At the last minute, I realized that I did need to add a new form for my husband's pension, which was paid to him at the beginning of the year and to me at the end of the year, on two separate forms. It would be nice if TurboTax could gently remind new widows and widowers that they might need to add a new form, if the deceased spouse had previously received a pension that might now be going to the surviving spouse.
What's great about it: Takes you by the hand and walks you through the process.
What's not so great: I could have used one extra bit of prodding this year.

I've used Turbotax since 2004 and have witnessed the product getting better each year.
Turbotax is thorough and straightforward, keeps the propaganda to a minimum.
I thought I made a mistake last year and the year before on my taxes and had them checked by a CPA; they were fine.
One problem in 9 years: either my company or turbotax imported the wrong year from my employer

I've used Turbo Tax for over 10 years. Some years my taxes were complicated and some years they were simple. Turbo Tax handled everything I threw at it.
What's great about it: It worked like a well built clock.
What's not so great: Doesn't provide easy provisions for retired clergy

Fast, easy, comprehensive, and easy links to government references/guides are among the top reasons I use TurboTax again and again. I find the process to be easy and the price to be reasonable when I use a coupon. I used to prepare my taxes by hand but this product has made life so much less stressful when dealing with taxes (especially state filing)!
