I have used Turbo Tax for many years and find it improved every year, especially with the downloading of 1099s directly from the financial institutions to the forms.
What's great about it: Easy download of Information, good guidance.
What's not so great: K1 form Input could be improved on parts that don't download directly.

Great Tax program

I have used Turbo Tax for the last several years to file my taxes. It is easy to use and logically follows you through the process. It has helped on finding deductions I was unaware of and the best part is e-filing. It is quick, easy, and painless (for the most part).
What's great about it: Easy to use, makes filing taxes simple

Pretty Good with Some Shortcomings

Overall, using TurboTax 2012 was a pleasant and easy experience. But none of our Form 1099-DIV providers provided info required for Box 12, the state(s) for tax-exempt interest dividends. TurboTax refused to let me file electronically unless box completed on all forms. I just put in "XX" to get around this. Had a paper document to be filed. TurboTax does not let me attach it as a scanned PDF. Will get around this limitation by filing electronically, mailing in an amendment with paper document attached. Tried sales tax calculation and found Alternative Minimum Tax makes overall tax bill the same. TurboTax would not let me remove sales tax entry from Schedule A worksheet and literally forced me to take sales tax deduction to complete my electronic filing.
So what would have been a wonderful experience was spoiled by some lame-brain programming and lack of options for truly electronic filing. The IRS is probably going to scan any paper submitted so why does TurboTax not allow such?
What's great about it: Easy to Navigate, Helpful Explanations
What's not so great: No provision for filing scanned documents, chokes on Box 12 , Form 1099-DIV

Federal return was a breeze, States were a bit more confusing. Apparently you need to do the non-resident state first, then your state of residency........would be nice if that was pointed out to you in the directions - not after you were already done with one state and doing the second one.......
What's great about it: Electronic, self-contained, idiot proof
What's not so great: had to make a couple of phone calls
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Tax Laws get Complicateder

It got the job done, but took way too long. When you add WINDOWS 8, it becomes a nightmare

Turbo Tax Deluxe

I have used turbo tax for the last several years. It is the easiest and detailed tax software that I have used. I find the categories easy to go through and find areas of deductions that I wasn't aware I could use.
What's great about it: It walks you through every detail to tax filing.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
