It Was My First Time !!

For YEARS...we have had a CPA do our taxes as I was self employed and there was just a lot to consider. This year our taxes were fairly straight forward so I decided to give Turbo-Tax a shot. Oh my, how easy for someone who was doing their own taxes for the first time in 42 years! After seeing how Turbo-Tax guided me through each step, I had to wonder WHY I had paid a CPA all those years! I feel like a turkey for not trying Turbo-Tax before this! Turbo-Tax has a new and loyal friend!
What's great about it: Ease of use, how it asked detailed questions and guided you through each process!
What's not so great: Perhaps a little more detail on a few explainations, but that could have been user ignorance.

Taxes made easy

I've used Turbo Tax for years and rely on it annually to guide me through the tax maze. Glad Intuit can keep up with the tax laws and make filing my family income tax manageable.
What's great about it: Love the easy guide
What's not so great: Don't like the repeated upcharge marketing

Turbo Tax is a great program. I have used it for years! It walks you through your taxes if they are simple or complicated. I have always gotten the most out of my refund. I would not use anything else.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: None
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Quick, smooth, and easy

Why should I pay for the privilege of filing state taxes electronically? It makes THEIR job easier, and they make me pay for that. No, thanks. I will not pay, and they can type it in from the form I send by snail-mail. Turbo-Tax costs me plenty as it is - every year I use it.
What's great about it: Easy to complete - and it gets easeir every year
What's not so great: E-filing state taxes costs extra
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

several years of using turbotax and easier every year.
don't need to work through all the manual publications which are to hard to get through and take to much time. and efile is the way to go.

EZ Tax

I have always gone with TurboTax for my Fed and State returns. Never had any issues and have been more than satisfied with the results.
My family and friends have switched over after hearing of my results and the ease I have had in filing.
What's great about it: Just fill in the boxes
What's not so great: some boring sections
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

great program

I like how it carries forward prior year info, so you do not have to re-input, but it is a little difficult to find what you need to correct if errors come up and you are missing info or it is not correct. I t would be nice if it took you back to the steps you need to follow instead of just the form.
What's great about it: easy to use
