Came out ahead for a change

derailed by depreciation

For many years Turbor Tax has been a reliable and useful tool for preparing my personal tax returns. However, as life gets more complicated I have had to enlist the services of my accountant to verify that the information I enter in Turbo Tax is handled correctly. Turbo Tax makes assumptions regarding depreciation and the extent to which one might want to take advantage of the bigger deduction and bonus deductions. Sometimes more research and a bit of self-education are required to make the correct choices. In this case a more restrained use of depreciation, the use of the MACRS IRS tables, and advice from a trusted source was the best course to take.
I will continue to use Turbo Tax, but when entering new territory, I may be more wary of it's ablility to make the best and most accurate assumptions.
What's great about it: links to help and IRS tables are very helpful
What's not so great: Turbo tax didn't give depreciation options without using the override option

fix it for 2013

Income: gambling. must put onto itemized deductions. I had to call customer service to know how & where to put gambling losses so I didn't have to pay taxes (my wins = my losses). This should have transferred over instead of a manual input on my part. or better directions on Turbo tax. otherwise, no other problem.
What's great about it: easy to use

I found it very difficult to correct a mistake. Also could get to correct the state return and clicked amend, then could not change it back.

Gets easier every year

I have been usinng Turbotax for over 15 years and every year it seems to get easier. The program looks up all my informationfrom my last tax year and fills in the blanks. Can't say I look forward to doing my taxes every year, but I will say I wouldn't try it without TurboTax.
What's great about it: Very easy to use and know its right and up to date

THIS IS A WONDERFUL PRODUCT; EASY TO USE AND TIME SAVING. LOVE IT. HAVE USED IT FOR ABOUT EIGHT YEARS NOW. WON'T USE ANYTHING ELSE.
What's great about it: ALWAYS UP TO DATE AND PROVIDES STEP BY STEP GUIDANCE
What's not so great: TAXES ARE CONS.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
