My husband and I have been retired several years living in Florida. We ALMOST look forward to Turbo Tax every year because my husband gets all the info together and I input it into the computer.
What's great about it: The manner in which it's required to double check
What's not so great: can't think of any right now

Turbotax asks you clear questions to get all the information needed to complete your taxes. It checks every field on all the forms needed and tells you if you have missed a field. It reviews the entire package before submission and lets you know if you are at risk for an audit. I have used it for years and never had any problems.

Easy as Pie

Overall this is my 3rd or 4th year using turbo tax. Considering that I don't own any property, am single, and have no major income from investments, it is way more efficient than hiring a tax accountant.
What's great about it: Simple yet detailed explainations
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Good program except for printing results

Wanted to print just state forms, but wasted several sheets of paper because directions to designate just those pages were not at all clear. Finally figured it out, but it shouldn't have been that difficult and wasteful of paper and ink
What's great about it: program easy to use and priced reasonably

It's much quicker at recalculating than in previous years, but can be hard to find specific items to review and/or edit amounts.
I.e.: This is the first time I've had unreimbursed home office expenses and it took me several tries to get them entered correctly.

What's great about it: tracks refund or payment due quickly, as new data is entered
What's not so great: to update home office expense data, it repeats all the basic questions, rather than remembering my answers

Generally, very easy to use. Usually provides good explanation of alternatives when you have to make a choice. Haven't done my tax return by alternative methods for the same year to compare accuracy and whether or not Turbotax calculates the lowest tax total.
What's great about it: Easy to use, Good explanation of choices.
What's not so great: Sometimes a little unclear
