This has been the most disappointing year of many many years of TT experience. I try to imagine using TT again and the idea is not resonating.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

My information has not really changed changed from last years filing, and Turbo Tax helped me process my Federal & State in less than an hour!
What's great about it: Pulled previous info, computed from there, so easy!!

It would be nice to have a "what if section". it would be good for projecting and planing. I am retired and my wife will soon. We can estimate income and some expenses. But what will be that taxes as we draw from our 401K and other accounts.
What's great about it: works well guides you with good detail
What's not so great: I think changing another $19.95 to efile state is a rip off

Won´t do this again next year!

I have flied with Turbo Tax for several years, but after this year, I won´t go back again. I bought my software at Staples (won´t do that again) instead of downloading it like I normally do. There was no customer service number, no online help desk, no nothing! I had to search the internet several times to find numbers to call or e-mail addresses to write to. When i finally did talk to a real live person, they NEVER solved my problems nor could they answer my questions. The online forum addressed the same questions I had, and yet the help desk was oblivious to any error in their tax program. It was a nightmare! Never, ever, ever again!
What's great about it: Pros?
What's not so great: No access to customer service or tax help. Constant errors.

TurboTax has gone downhill every year for the past 4 years. If you have just one income it's fairly easy. If you have a side job it gets difficult fast. This year's version kept saying I had to fill out something that didn't even apply. I had to restart my return and then the error went away. If you have business expenses for two jobs that is ridiculous as well. They need to explain things much more clearly. As it turns out I have to file manually for some reason that TT won't say, but then when it reexamined everything it asked if I wanted to e-file and that there was no cost (which is a lie). I'm mailing it in. My advice is do your taxes by hand first with the forms in front of you and then see what TT comes up with. Usually when it's in front of you, you'll see what you need to put where and what the forms actually look like. Unfortunately this is the best out there.
What's great about it: electronic, self-calculating
What's not so great: disjointed, confusing to amend parts

Terrible Customer Service

I do not recommend Turbotax if you expect you will need any sort of customer service. They are awful. I got to the part where I needed to e-file, and I kept being sent between two different pages-- one page saying I needed to upgrade to Deluxe, the other page saying there were errors in my return. Since my return was fairly simple, and I did not need any extra features of deluxe, I did not want to upgrade. There was no "help" button to instantly connect you with someone, there was no "I know I don't have errors--let me file", etc. I was basically stuck between the two pages. Exasperated at this point, I tried to contact customer service, which was nearly impossible to try to find how to do. If you input your question, it asks you... maybe these answers can help? Um, no. If I wanted to google my question and get superficial responses, I would've done so. Eventually I found out how to chat, which their commercials, etc. advertise is one of the "perks" to using their system. It said my wait time was under 5 minutes, I waited at least 45 before I gave up and figured there was a glitch in the system. I tried again, this time it said my wait time was 45 minutes. Having now dealt with this issue for quite a while now, I did not want to wait and I ended up trying to find a direct customer service number. Once I finally located the number, my call was actually picked up fairly quickly (less than 10 minutes), but the customer service representative was absolutely awful. I had to repeat my problem to her many, many times. (Actually, I just remembered this was the second time I had called. I had actually called before even attempting chat, but I ended up saying "nevermind" because the first representative I got could not even spell my name correctly. It's a fairly simple name, and it was going to be a loooong call if she couldn't even get that right in the beginning) Anyway, on round 2 of the phone call, the representative kept referring to someone else for answers, and it made for a very unprofessional, inefficient phone call. And when she'd repeat my problem back to me, to clarify, it was wrong at least 3-4 times. She sounded like a young individual who had no idea how to do her job. There was a great deal of back-and-forth, while she, presumably, was looking for answers. Whens she'd come back with an "answer", it wouldn't even be applicable to my situation and it was extremely irritating. Eventually, completely annoyed at this point, I asked for her to refund the $40 I had already paid for audit protection, and I would file my taxes elsewhere. Of course, she had no idea how to do that. When she returned, she offered to give us free software, if we would stay with Turbotax. I agreed, because I really did not want to re-do my taxes at this point. It took her forever to download the software correctly, and, when she did, it was for Windows. I have a Mac. I told her this, and she was like "Oh, I guess I should've asked you that before." So, more waiting. Eventually, I got the software for Mac, and, of course, NONE of my information was able to be imported. So I started from scratch. All in all, my taxes took much, much longer than necessary, and it was a frustrating experience to say the least. I had went with turbotax because of their commercials that suggest excellent customer service, and I was completely unhappy with my experience. Next year I will likely file with someone else to avoid these issues altogether.
What's not so great: Horrible customer service, slow response, online version confusing

Quick but not easy

It was great for me until I got to saving the return and I was not computer savvy enough to figure out what needed to be done and it took my wife about ten minutes to go through the steps.
What's great about it: ability to skip steps and pick the steps you need
What's not so great: I couldn't save a copy I had to have my wife rework through complicated instruction to make us able to save.
