I am simply too busy and lazy to hire a "tax guy." I think if I had a more complicated freelance gig I would certainly hire one. But honestly, my expenses are so easy to track and Turbotax is so intuitive when it comes to my needs, I really don't see why I would at this point. I've used Turbotax for years, both as an employee for someone else and while self employed. I have never had an issue with any of my returns.
What's great about it: they do all the work for you!
What's not so great: having to pay for the state return
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Every Year I Do This...

Every single year I go through the exact same song and dance routine. I realize that this is my fault but I can't help but wonder if I am the only person to do this.
I keep all my passwords in my "Norton Vault" and depend on that constantly. Since I prepare my taxes off-line via downloaded program or purchased disk, I don't have a password entered for "Turbo Tax." When I go to pay the charge for the State I have to log-in with my User Name and Password. PASSWIORD? You expect me to remember since I depend on my Norton Vault?
I then send for the "reset key" which of course does not work since I am not on-line. Eventually I look at my password for "Its Deductable" which just happens to be the correct one. Of course by this time I am quite upset.
Will I remember what to do in 2014? I doubt it and I will go through the exact same routine.
Come on Intuit...Make this a bit easier for me...Kathy

Good tool. Wish did not have to pay to file state since I bought product. Have had to repay state an education portion before. Had filled out info incorrectly due to not clear questions in 2010.
What's great about it: quick and mostly easy to enter needed info. Handles federal and state.
What's not so great: Education credits not always clear on what to put.

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and it has saved me money and time and allowed me to do my taxes on my scheduled. I have not been dissappointed yet. Thank you.
