If you have difficulty or fear with the current federal tax forms the Turbo tax step by step walk thru of income and expenses makes it easy. If you can read and type you can file a return with turbo tax.
What's great about it: The step by step walk thru of income and expenses
What's not so great: Difficulty changing spouses contact number

Almost as good as a CPA

We use TurboTax every year because it is quick and easy. Our tax situation isn't that complicated so we can usually wrap it up in one or two quick afternoons of work. However, we still needed some help with understanding some areas of our situation and had to get questions answered by our accountant friend. He was even able to help us find a little extra that contributed to our refund that we hadn't included. That's the one area that TurboTax can't quite cover: context. Overall, though, we are happy with TurboTax and will continue to use it each year.
What's great about it: Easy to use. Quick transfer of information from last year's return. Easily imported investment information.
What's not so great: Difficult to find answers to understanding-type questions. Still required questions answered by our accountant friend.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

2012 Return

Great program, I have been using this for 19+ years and have always been delighted with the process.
What's great about it: As always Turbo Tax is easy to use and covers all options
What's not so great: If you do not have to file a state tax, they should give an option to just skip state taxes.

QUICK FAST & EASY

Detailed and to the point. Help section was great. Google search of uncoeverd topics in help also was a great tool

I've used Turbo Tax for years and I'm always pleased with how quick and easy it is. It would have taken hours, if ever, to have found all the deductions on my own.
What's great about it: The product walked me through the process in an easy to understand fashion

Great step-by-step instructions

Great tool to file taxes, very smooth transitions and easy to understand instructions. The only confusing item I found was in regards to the house. I just bought a house this year and I wish the program explained that box 4 can have more than one explanation. I had to learn that from one of the mortgage statement. Other than that, great software! Although it take forever,, but hey it's taxes :)
What's great about it: Easy to understand questions, help on every item, thorough
What's not so great: House buy not as well explained

As Easy As It Gets

As a young'n who has never filed a return on his own, it was remarkably simple for me to file my taxes. Every step of the way, TurboTax provides useful information and help, which allowed me to confidently file my return, knowing I was getting the full amount I deserved. After this experience, I will be using TurboTax every year going forward.
What's great about it: Simple, intuitive interface makes filing easy
What's not so great: Lagged a bit sometimes
