Turbotax is great

I have used TurboTax for more than 15 years now and it has improved year over year. It makes preparing my now more complex returns easier than the short form I had to do on paper forms when I was younger.
The only thing I did not like about this year is the program did not pull forward the payments I have made over the last few years on my first time home buy credit that has to be paid back. I had to enter it manually. I guess I have to start a manual tally sheet to keep in my folder to keep track of this over the next 15 years... unless they are so kind as to start keeping track of this in the program and pulling it forward as one would expect from this quality product.
TT allows you to step through questions the program asks or jump directly to sections. If you have used the program very much it is pretty easy to jump to the sections you know you will need to do if your situation does not change drastically.
TT has saved me hours and hours of frustration and I would recommend it to anyone to simplify filing taxes year over year.
What's great about it: Ability to step through or go directly to specific items
What's not so great: TT did not bring forward payments made on first time home buyer. Had to manually enter.

Not bad, could be better

It was easier last year but it wasn't quite as thorough as this year. I had no problem printing and saving the forms this year. Another improvement was that the additional State form I had to purchase on line was found instantly when it was time to fill it out, unlike last year. Unfortunately, once I was done with the Federal form, it took forever to find a way to move to the State forms - it kept saying that the forms were up to date, but would not move from there. Thankfully, the chat on line on the TurboTax website revealed that I needed to use FireFox instead of Internet Explorer. FireFox worked perfectly. Also, the NY non-resident tax form lacked explanation of terms: you could not click on several words that needed definition until after the information was entered, if at all, such as "qualified educational expenses". I ended up erasing information that may have been right, since I could not figure out how the software arrived at the amount. Only until the next screen could you find links to the definitions and by then I had altered the numbers on the previous screen and was unable to ever get them back.
What's great about it: Very thorough Federal, everything is laid out well.
What's not so great: State forms lacked info and could not use Internet Explorer

Did not allow the student taxes to be completed as part of the federal or state.
What's not so great: Extra costs not expected. Said Federal and state returns on the package. Some explanations are confusing.

I have used Turbo Tax since 2004. It's fast and easy to use.
The program covers all of my needs. Going for it in 2014 as well. Very accurate, checks and rechecks everything.

Amazing refund

Love all the pop up info for tax deductions. It's a hundred times easier to itemize your deductions. Thanks turbo tax!

I love that Turbo Tax covers all different types of deductions and constantly asks and reassures you that you have the most opportunities to change and check anything you need to!
What's great about it: Coverage, Deductions, Constant Reassurance
