It was great and a little stressful watching your numbers go up and down, anticipating the outcome. But well worth it and very pleased with the outcome. Rest assured we feel very confident in the program we have used an accountant for over 27 years and when he retired we used a few others but was not pleased with the fees they charge and knowing they used turbo tax as well so we decided to give it a try and was very pleased and will use this again in the future
What's great about it: User friendly
What's not so great: could not find anything that was not liked

User Friendly for the Tax Illiterate

We have found Turbo Tax extremely helpful for us in filing our annual taxes. We not only use it for our family personally but for our elderly parents as well. No matter what the situation, it has easy step by step questions that allow all the details to be covered. After answering the questions, Turbo Tax creates every document needed. No more waiting in long lines at the local Post Office or IRS office for necessary forms. No more worries over complicated tax law. Simply answering questions and the experts handle everything. We highly recommend it to all of our friends...and it's much cheaper than hiring an accountant.
What's great about it: Simply answer the questions completely and the software develops the forms
What's not so great: Some home business details are difficult to understand, but with proper receipts and journals they help you through it.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

This is the 2nd year we have used Turbo Tax. Love the information transferred from year to year. Also, our refunds last year arrived in about a week. I regret all the years I wasted on forms filled out in pencil and using an adding machine. We have already recommended this to our friends.

Always an easy experience

TurboTax makes the tax return experience pain-free. You spend a good deal of time on the Federal, but after its done, the State takes only 1-2 minutes to do. The return is only going to be as accurate as the data you input, so you of course share in the responsibility, but turbo tax does all the calculation and fills in all the pesky forms, which is really the painful part. The casualty loss section is a little unclear (how do I know what the FMV is? should I guess?). And if I'm paying for the TurboTax CD, why do I need to pay to e-file a state? I think it should be included, since the download is included.
What's great about it: The running tally (refund/amount due)
What's not so great: Paying to download an extra state and efile any state

Good for simple to complicated return. Gives the right amount of backup information.
What's great about it: explained everything in detail
What's not so great: Hard to get rid of an item from last year that is not repeating

Used TurboTax for 20 years

Overall great product, hence over 20 years of use. Sometimes leaves you with questions, such as how to enter additional countries when completing K-1 entries. Or download a file but it does not show up until you manually enter the information; then in review both the manually entered file and the downloaded file are listed. But usually easy to work through or can go on line to get answers.
What's great about it: Easy walk through.
What's not so great: Sometimes leaves you with usage questions.
