Consistent quality year after year

I've been a satisfied TurboTax user for about 15 years. I love the way it automatically finds last year's information and gives a jump start by putting that information in the right places. It is a well-constructed software product that I intend to keep using, at least until my favored tax plan, a flat tax, goes into effect. In other words, I'll probably be a satisfied user for many more years.
What's great about it: Very helpful guidance, consistent use each year
What's not so great: none

I have been using since 2005. It has improved and is a top of the line product. They try to improve the presentation but it has some quarks. You cannot go back and review an area or amount entered and then go right back to where you were. They should have a book mark or point of return provision. I want to file having the return sent to an address. When I try to pay it will not let me deduct from the return and have it sent to an address. You have to use a credit card. Going through the bank, it is a rip off. I called the Federal government and they said they can send to the bank and prefer to do it that way and there is no charge for that.
What's great about it: It has all the needed items to do an accurate and correct return
What's not so great: It is a little confussing and hard to navagate as some of the areas are hidden.

Ok some changes were good but some not so. I always like to triple check the source of form data to ensure worksheets are correct....seems less functional
Overall a good software package
What's great about it: generates less errors, fast updates
What's not so great: seems like source info feature in forms is less functional,

My Review

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years and I have seen great improvements from “Dos” and floppies days to now; however, some of these improvements made the software less user friendly and buggier. Currently because of the many changes to tax rules about handling capital gains/losses, this topic is not designed very well and needs major improvements. For example, when I downloaded the revised combined 1099 form from financial institute, it created duplicated and untitled records rather than just update the figures. I was forced to delete all records from that institute and download it again and reenter cost bases again.
What's great about it: For most part it is easy to use
What's not so great: 1) Too many late fixes/updates 2) Creates duplicate records for updated data (downloads) from financial instituted

I thought Retirees were taxed less!!

I've used TT for many years -- seems to be almost more complicated than years ago, but that is probably due to the tax code and the fact that I retired last year and had to face all kinds of new inputs for SS, pension, IRA withdrawals, etc. I do wish that there was someone at Intuit who would review all of the unanswered questions every couple of days and get an expert to respond. I'm pretty good at researching my own answers, but there were a few situations I had that made me want to give up. Others had asked similar questions without response.
What's great about it: Electronic filing; copying info from prior year directly into form; 24/7 availability; computing estimated quarterly tax
What's not so great: couldn't find all of the answers to some of my questions
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

A lot of time is saved if you use this each year because last years information is imported from last year's return. You may also import information from many financial institutions which is another time saver.
What's great about it: brings up every possible topic for consideration
What's not so great: sometimes returning to an earlier topic was not intuitive

I have used Turbo tax for several years without problems... this year there were several buggy areas that never got fixed in the updates. Will look for another program next year... very disapointed.
What's great about it: used to be good....
What's not so great: several unresolved problems
