Turbo Tax has seen my family through a lot of tax situations: two incomes with possible AMT, one income, mortgage interest, selling a house, buying a house, losing a house, , severance pay & unemployment benefits, multiple employers in a calendar year, self-employment and business expenses...as well as child tax credit and dependent care deduction. The step-by-step Q&A format has guided me through all of these, and made me confident in the correctness of our tax returns. At one point I consulted a CPA and received the exact same information there that I had received through Turbo Tax which was very reassuring.
What's great about it: The descriptions and pop-up explanations are better written than ever..
What's not so great: Don't like being asked to buy the Audit Protection repeatedly.

Education credit for student in college - difficult to ascertain what went into Hope / Opportunity and what percentage went into the education area. It looked like only 40% of 2500 factored in, but the other 60% shows up elsewhere.
Next year I hope I can do this with 3 kids in college!

I have been using TT since I walked out of a "Block" when I saw they were charging me to use something similar.

DON'T KNOW WHAT I'D DO WITHOUT YOU!!

I love TurboTax! I've used TT since Tax Year 2005!! I've always been pleased with how questionable entries are explained so I feel confident with my entries. I feel safe and secure with TT, not to mention I've always received excellent refunds!!
Since retirement, our returns are quite simple and the cost for filing the Federal, as well as the State return is awesome compared to having it done at other Tax places!
God bless TurboTax and their staff for making my life a little easier!!
What's great about it: Easy to use...just follow the bouncing ball!! I trust TT and their tax prep guidance.
What's not so great: Can't really think of any.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

This was simple and helped me understand what every possible deduction, income line, and tax issue was. It took me about 30 minutes to complete my Federal and State returns.
What's great about it: Easy to use, detailed, and WAY CHEAPER then my old accountant
What's not so great: Not one con!

For the rest of us, TurboTax 2012 is a straight forward, user friendly interface for filing income taxes. Each aspect from income, to deductions, to credits delineates succinctly and lets the user input data and finalize. The only thing better then TurboTax is having the tax laws revamped entirely to a straight line formula without deductions.
