I have used Turbo tax for many years dating back to the days
of Parsons. I use it to do Federal income tax and one state income tax for myself and two other family members.
The ease of use is primary to me with Turbo tax retention of prior years Information. The turbo tax error check at the end of the current report is essential to filing accuracy. Considering every aspect. I would not change any thing.

Short time to fill out

The process take less than half hour to fill out and review. E filing is the best for average returns and direct deposit is great..I have used Turbo Tax for many years and had no problems.
What's great about it: E filing
What's not so great: Deluxe model to much for my return

More explanations would be helpful along the way as to how Turbo Tax came up with such and such a number in this field.
Also, I had a business in 2011, but not in 2012. There was no place to say this on the forms. it was confusing for me.

What's great about it: Turbo Tax figures all the stuff I don't even have a clue about for me.
What's not so great: I don't always understand what Turbo Tax has figured, because it isn't easy to get a look at all the worksheets, etc.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Getting back to a topic is difficult for me. Why is there not a link to say income, tax deductions, etc.
What's great about it: I don't have to know all of the rules; does all calculations, etc.
What's not so great: Not easy for me to figure out how to get back to a topic to change it.

I have been using Turbotax for years and it has always been so easy and helpful. The questions guide you through without missing anything. Usually Turbotax can find me more deductions than when I use the paper and book method. I have checked it against other preparation companies and it is comparable in price and ease.
What's great about it: Very easy for first timers or even pros
What's not so great: Up front cost
