I have used Turbotax for most of the past decade. I switched to other programs a few times to see if they were better or easier to use. The results are that Turbotax is the easiest to follow and learn how to use. The way questions are asked, the guides and the help are all very intuitive and straight forward. I recommend Tt to everyone I know for this reason. You what you need to know about the tax code to make the best decisions about your situation.
What's great about it: Easy to follow, good results on returns, Help is actually good
What's not so great: Updates, Price
Pros: I had a baby

I have used Turbo Tax for the past 6 years. this year's version is the best by far. The only negative is that the "learn more" buttons take you straight to the often hard to understand IRS publications; what would be nice is an easy to understand sescription written by one of your tax professionals that is in plain language.
What's great about it: Step by step instructions

It is hard to decipher what is exactly wrong becuase a lot of times it will bring you to the actual form and not the easy explore way to check the problem. You kind of have to figure out why you have the error.
What's great about it: Error Checing
What's not so great: Error Checking

I've been using TT for 20 years. It's very refined at this point. The only drawback is the SW updates every time I sign in. I haven't looked at the details of each one...I just trust TT and load them. It will say < 1min, but 5 min later and it's still implementing them. I'd prefer it look at my tax situation and decide if they are needed. After all, before I file/print it checks for updates. Why not just do this at the end instead of doing it twice?
What's great about it: Walked me through all the tough topics...awesome!
What's not so great: Getting updates everytime I signed in

Taxing at times

I am a former tax preparer and I have a good idea where numbers need to go but needed to e-file the return so I tried Turbo Tax for the first time. Basically it took you through the return thoroughly and you could go back and forth easily. The problem was when I had the 1099R imported, a box got accidentally checked that shouldn't have been. I ended up with getting a deduction I knew we shouldn't get. I couldn't override the form no matter how I tried. I worried about letting it stay in there even if I deducted the same amount from somewhere else. I even called a fellow tax preparer and she said I must have input something incorrectly. I finally deleted the imported 1099 R and typed it in myself. I input all the numbers where they should be and the deduction never showed up. I really had no contact Turbo information and I did check all the suggestions of the forum and "help". I know they said I could upgrade to get more personal help, but that didn't seem fair. I was able to correct it because of my knowledge but someone who didn't understand they shouldn't get that deduction could have had serious consequences. It might have been a fluke but it made me leery. That is why I gave Turbo Tax Deluxe a 3.
What's great about it: Easy to get around
What's not so great: An error cost me hours to fix

I've used TurboTax for over 10 years and like the ease of the process even though each year changes are made that are now always better.
What's great about it: Easy guided tour of my taxes.
What's not so great: No longer has the "What-If analysis".

Your program is a little slow to load pages though that could be my computer, so I reserve judgement about the slowness.
What's great about it: I just enjoy doing my own taxes.
What's not so great: None that I can think of.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
