Always easy to use!

I have been using TurboTax for many years. I am an accountant who wanted my husband to take an interest in filing our taxes so he would not be totally lost if something happened to me. He was surprized to learn how easy TurboTax was to use for non-professionals.
What's great about it: step by step in easy to understand language
What's not so great: difficluty with nys "exempt" pensions

one problem

Despite one transfer problem which I had to go to state form and manually change the data, everything else worked great. Turbotax saved me a lot of time in calculations.
What's great about it: All calculations from 1099 came through without any problems
What's not so great: one transfer of data from Fed to state did not transfer correctly
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

sometimes tricky to find detailed list of questions about a topic when reviewing or changing and going directly to the topic
also- you don't allow comparisons that might be useful:
e.g. married filing jointly vs separately
taking a child as dependent or not--which can affect child's return but not parent's if parent on AMT

otherwise-- great program
What's not so great: suggest add comparison of options the way you compare std vs itemized deducts. e.g. choice of taking allowed dependent

Since I use the Forms method & since I'm retired and get all kinds of 1099 forms, I like the program to follow exactly what is shown on the 1099's and some do & some don't exactly.
In particular, there is not a form SSA-1099 in the program so I have a little problem entering that information via the Forms mode of input vs. the Step-by-Step.
The error checking is very good at fixing the obscure entries I forget to make via the Forms, so that is much appreciated.

What's great about it: Quite complete with frequent updates helps help with new laws
What's not so great: Step-by-step questions often don't apply, I skip to the forms

I love doing my taxes with TurboTax. You guys make it so easy to understand and very fast to complete eveything. Thanks so much for such great tax software.
What's great about it: It was very easy to follow all of the tutorials and answer all of the questions with my information.

Above and Beyond Service, Too!

Your (Inuit's) service representative, Franklyn, did a great job of hanging in there with me to correct one problem, and then talking me through acquiring the update needed to accomplish e-filing. He was helpful, patient, good-humored and went the extra mile so the returns were complete and the installation of the update(s) accomplished, then made sure that the e-filing process was complete. He made sure the entire process was done before getting ready to sign off. He really went all out to help a very grateful tax filer who is not by any stretch of the imagination a techie. Thanks, Franklyn!
What's great about it: Program leads user through itemizations very easily.
What's not so great: This year, there was a program update that was not part of the purchased disc.
