Efficient Filing

TurboTax makes filing clearer and far quicker than manual preparation. It asks qualifying questions that I might not have recognized from reading IRS documents and certainly not as quickly.
What's great about it: Clear instructions asked one time
What's not so great: Not knowing or having all needed documents/data at one time

TurboTax is what computer is for. A program that generates all the necessary paperwork back by knowledge and expertise of trusted tax professionals.
What's great about it: Easy Guide asks right questions help at fingertips
What's not so great: Not much not to like

Long time user.

I have been using Turbo Tax for years. I like the ease of the program. I have been doing mine and my wife's, my sons, my daughter's and my mother-in-laws taxes without any problems. Thanks for the program! Ed

Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Walked me thru

The interview process is slow but very thorough. Since work and page location are always saved, it is easy to stop and restart. After each section a summary page pops up that makes it easy to check or change entries. It is also possible to switch between the interview and the actual 1040 at any time to see how the details are shaping up. I didn't have to file State tax this year but when I have in the past all the relevant information was imported from the federal forms. Finally the actual filing process was a piece of cake, and I could save a PDF copy for review.
What's great about it: The interview process is slow but covers all the bases!
What's not so great: More translation of arcane IRS language would be helpful

Easy to Use

I have always loved using Turbo Tax. Honestly I look forward to entering all my info and seeing my refund change as I go. I love how Turbo Tax runs you through the whole process step by step. That way I know I am hitting everything and don't miss a single opportunity for a deduction. It is also nice that I can go back to a particular section if I need to change something. I don't have to go through the entire process again, just jump right to the section I want to change.
This year I was dealing with a foreclosure and even dealing with that was easy. I got a lot of my questions answered on the Turbo Tax Forum and was able to finish up my taxes on my own. Everyone said I'd have to hire a professional to do it for me, but with Turbo Tax's help, I was able to do it on my own, and save a couple hundred dollars.
I will continue to use Turbo Tax for all my tax needs, and will keep touting how great a product it is, to all my friends.
What's great about it: Deduction finder, easy to use, step by step instructions
What's not so great: None

When there is non-taxable amounts of income, such as Social Security, say so or list both values that add up to the total income amount shown in the process.
What's great about it: Easyguide is just that
What's not so great: Amounts not always the same as on the 1040

Clueless on Massachusetts

Massachusetts residents are required to show proof of health insurance. A box on the form asks for the Federal ID of the insurer. Medicare has no Federal ID, and none is required by Massachusetts if one's insurer is Medicare. But Turbo Tax will not allow you to file electronically without this (nonexistent) number.
An online chat with a Turbo Tax representative revealed that he had never heard of this, nor had the people in the tier above him. And furthermore, I was unable to go back and have Turbo Tax print my return, since I had already paid for electronic filing. I am hoping to be able to print my Massachusetts return form-by-form.
